Day 213 of 2016

M and I headed to an outdoor quilt show in the park today.
I love the quilting on this one.

Day 212 of 2016

I have been waking up with some pretty awful headaches lately.
Last week I slept on a hotel pillow and had very few headaches.
Today I bought a new pillow.

Day 210 of 2106

What do you buy on vacation?  Evidently I buy tools.
I've wanted this one for a while to use to square up quilts before binding.
Last week I saw it demonstrated and then it went on sale.
So I came home from vacation with a new tool...
and a maybe few fat quarters.

Day 209 of 2016

We have safely found our way home from a wonderful week away.
This butterfly found our bumper.

Day 208 of 2016

There were many inspiring pieces at the Grand Rapids Art Museum today.
I think this one is my favorite.
As always, I see quilting designs.

Day 207 of 2016

We picked the most gorgeous day to visit Holland, Michigan.
This is Holland Harbor Light, also known as Big Red.

Day 205 of 2016

Today was a museum day.
After all the exhibits had been viewed,
it was time to take a moment and watch the river.
There was a man fishing while standing in the middle of the water
who seemed to be attracting a lot of attention.

Day 204 of 2016

The daytime temperatures have been very hot.  Tomorrow is going to be even hotter.
But a walk this evening with these two as the sun set was quite pleasant.

Day 202 of 2016

Built in 1899, this beautiful manor is still going strong now as a bed and breakfast.

Day 201 of 2016

One member of my small quilt group
has just had her quilt accepted into the Houston show.
Here is just a tiny detail.

Day 200 of 2016

M finished another quilt top today.
This one is called The Simple Life by Thimble Blossoms.

Day 199 of 2016

I have wanted to take pictures from this spot for a long time,
and I am happy with my first attempt at this effect.
Next time I will use a longer exposure to try to blur the lights into
completely continuous streaks.

Day 197 of 2016

A quick haircut is on the agenda
before heading to the airport for the trip home.

Day 196 of 2016

I am working on some post-Fourth-of-July nails.
Please imagine that I have already done the post-polish clean up.
Oh, and I apologize to those who have an aversion to feet.

Day 195 of 2016

A big angry storm is coming.
And it did come.  And it was loud and wet.

Day 194 of 2016

This fire station opened in 1932.
Unfortunately, it will close this month
as this station will be consolidated to another nearby station.
Many residents are not happy.

Day 193 of 2016

Our afternoon activities involved sidewalk chalk.
Everyone enjoyed although it appears I enjoyed it the most.
We wore crowns.

Day 191 of 2016

Tickling your cousin results in the best kind of smiles.
GB#3 (2 years old) and GB#1 (almost 4)

Day 189 of 2016

GB#1 and I shared the mirror this morning for makeup application.
She really liked the dark eye shadow.

Day 188 of 2016

So glad to see these two faces!

Day 187 of 2016

Lately I have been inspired to make these house blocks.
I totally blame Thelma of Cupcakes 'N' Daisies
Go check out her adorable houses.
Like Thelma, I am using the pattern "Village" by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.
Mine will be made using scraps from my most recent projects,
working my way back into my very old scraps.

Day 184 of 2016

When we last saw this quilt I was binding it.
I finished it the next day but keep forgetting to get a picture.
So here is the completed quilt.
I started out with a Moda Bake Shop quilt pattern
but got off track when I decided to change the size
and ran out of some of the fabric.
I improvised and the recipient (M) likes it just fine.
Close ups of the quilting can be found here and here
and on Instagram (@curiouslyintertwined).

Day 183 of 2016

Backlit.
I inherited this plant when Little E and her family moved.
I am hoping to not kill it.
