Day 89 of 2017

As luck would have it I forgot to take a picture of the back of my block yesterday.
I guess that was so I could take a picture of it today and show it to you.

Day 88 of 2017

I could not be happier with the way my first hand sewn block turned out.
It measures 5 inches and will finish at 4 1/2 inches.
On to number two.

Day 87 of 2017

The colors of spring at this local garden shop caught me by surprise.

Day 81 of 2017

I'll get no style points for this week's bullet journal page.
I've gone strictly bare bones.

Day 76 of 2017

It has become a tradition over the years
to buy a Christmas ornament while visiting another city.
This trip was no exception.

Day 75 of 2017

Wisconsin.

Day 74 of 2017

I am back after a few days away with Little E and M.
I snapped a quick picture of this finished raincoat for GB#1 before we left,
(I love the hood and gathered back)
but with our unexpected late departure
and 1:00 a.m. arrival at our destination
a late post was inevitable.

Day 73 of 2017

I was hoping to post a picture of the completed ladybug sewing project
but it will be after midnight when it is done
so instead I will post this picture and give you a sewing tip.
When sewing with laminated fabric,
it is advised to sew with a teflon foot to prevent sticking.
I don't own a teflon foot.
Somewhere (sorry, I don't remember where) I read that a piece of regular scotch tape
on the bottom of a regular foot will do the same thing.
I tried it on this project and have had no problems with my fabric sticking.
I highly recommend.

Day 72 of 2017

My traveler is back in the states for a few days.
This is what slap happy looks like.

Day 69 of 2017

Mom has a new look.
She is sporting her new glasses and a new haircut.

Day 67 of 2017

I know it is hard to tell but this young lady is made of glass
 and is nearly life-sized.
I found her in January at a Goodwill store during my trip to Florida.
As she is glass, I did not want to bring her home in my luggage for fear of breakage.
As she is heavy, I did not want to bring her home in my carry-on bag.
As it turns out, my Florida host drove down so I packed her in bubble wrap
and put her in my sewing machine luggage to be brought home by car.
I was just reunited with her last week and plan to find her a home in my studio.
I believe she will make a great model for the hats I knit.
Besides, she is blue and I love blue.

(I believe we named this head, but I can't remember what it is.)

Day 65 of 2017

Monday morning at the grocery finds the cases full and neat.
It reminds me of the Richard Scarry books I read to the kids when they were young.

Day 61 of 2017

Here is a quilt made by Little E.
She has partially quilted it on her domestic sewing machine.
Now that she has moved she is not able to finish it herself.
Neither of us wanted to see it go into storage for years
so I offered to finish quilting it on my (APQS Lucey) longarm machine.
I got it out today and feel inspired to get it done.
If any of you do longarm quilting and have any tips for me, please comment.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Day 60 of 2017

This morning I watched a few quilting videos
and quickly picked up a pen and followed along with this one.
I am excited to practice on paper a bit more and then try it out on fabric.

Quilting videos by Jessie Zeigler at Threaded Quilting Studio.
