Day 344 of 2017

I know no one wants to see a picture of my winter-dry hand and arm,
but the biggest thing that happened today
is that giant goose egg where my wrist should be.
I'll try to make the story short.
While moving a large chair with Fireball,
I caught my wrist on a doorway with the full force of the chair behind it.
At first it was just a nice indentation that really hurt.
Hours later I noticed it had transformed into a giant bump.
Yes, I have been icing it.
It doesn't really seem to be helping.

Day 343 of 2017

First snow as seen through the screen door and half-made wreath.
Note to self:
Swap screen door for storm door.
Finish making wreath.

Day 341 of 2017

I feel like I am moving in slow motion
while everything else is traveling at lightning speed.
Tomorrow the ornaments will go on the tree.

Day 340 of 2017

Sometimes when I have especially hot salsa with my meal,
I just have to have a small dish of peppermint ice cream.
Please tell me I am not the only one.

Day 337 of 2017

My Christmas chalkboard...
until one of the little ones comes to visit
and needs to do a different drawing.

Day 329 of 2017

We had a little photo shoot today.
Here's a little sneaky peek.

I posted a couple more on Instagram. @curiouslyintertwined

Day 326 of 2017

This is the quilt I like to hang in the fall.
It's good for another few days.

Day 324 of 2017

My binding kit isn't good for just bindings.
I finished hand sewing a sleeve on the back of a quilt I like to display in the fall
just in time so it can hang in the entry for a few days
before it will be time to switch it out for something more Christmas-y.

Day 321 of 2017

Swatch done.  Gauge good.
Emergency room knitting.

(All is well. Tests run. It's nothing major.)

Day 320 of 2017

I finally made the time to finish this cute little mermaid set for GB#1.
It's off in the mail and will likely take a couple weeks to arrive.
I hope her mom will send me a picture of her reaction to the package.
(hint, hint)

Day 317 of 2017

I'm swatching this beautiful Malabrigo.
Swatch number one was too tight.
Swatch number two is looking too loose.
Why does this always happen?

Day 315 of 2017

I had forgotten how fun playing make-believe with a three-year-old can be.
I laughed so hard I was crying.

Day 314 of 2017

Last night every one of its leaves fell to the ground, and the roof,
and just like that, this tree is bare.

Day 313 of 2017

Again, I forgot to take a picture of my soup before digging in.
This is me about to finish a second helping.
Chicken Pot Pie Soup from on instagram.
Check it out.

Day 312 of 2017

Yesterday I started out just testing the new green coverlet on the bed
and ended up decking the whole room out for Christmas, cleaning and cleaning out.
I may be rushing things but I really like it so I'm ok with that.

Day 311 of 2017

This is not my work but that of the hostess of our quilt meeting tonight.
I love the riot of color and cute quilting.

Day 310 of 2017

My quick solution for changing Halloween decor to something Thanksgiving appropriate?
Turn the pumpkins around.

Day 309 of 2017

I finally finished cutting out my Halloween quilt.
I've come to the conclusion that working with scraps is way more work
 than cutting from yardage.
Also I cut twice as many large orange squares than I need,
so I suspect you will be seeing another scrappy project with the leftovers.

Day 308 of 2017

My hat is done.
Lots of car knitting happened today.
Can I just say how difficult it is to take one's own picture
with a camera that is not on one's phone?

Day 305 of 2017

Halloween is over and Linus is in slightly better shape than our pumpkins most years.
He seems to be missing both arms and suffers from a broken jaw.
Oh, and he is missing an ear.
That must have been quite a rumble.

Day 303 of 2017

Here's an update on my slow knitting project from last week.
I've decided on some cables with reverse stockinette for the main body of my hat.

Day 302 of 2017

I've been cutting that fabric pull from a few days ago.
I still have a long way to go.

Day 300 of 2017

It's a birthday so I baked a cake.
Happy birthday, Fireball!
May this be your best year yet.

Day 298 of 2017

We had a little visitor tonight.
I'm so glad it occurred to me to get out one of my favorite toys
from when my kids were little.
GB#3 and I played and raced marbles all evening after dinner.
He was so excited.
Now if I can just find more than two marbles,
we will have some epic races next time.

Day 297 of 2017

I am very slowly working on this hat,
usually a couple minutes at a time waiting for appointments.
I am using a technique I saw on Pinterest
that allows the knitter to use a circular needle that is too long for the project
by working some of the stitches on one double pointed needle.
Since I saved the idea, the instructions on how to execute it disappeared.
Luckily, with perseverance, I have finally figured it out
and it has come in handy on this little project.
