Day 127 of 2025

When last we spoke about the nest and robins I could only see one chick.
The next day I could see a second one
and thought that was going to be the final count,
but today I got a surprise.
As the chicks are getting bigger,
I can see that there are actually three.
If you can't see them all, zoom in.

Day 121 of 2025

Since I can't see to the bottom of the nest,
I have never seen how many eggs Mama Robin has in her nest.
Today I saw her feeding one little one.
I'll be keeping an eye out to see if any more appear.

Day 114 of 2025

Mama Robin peeped out to catch a little sunshine
and gave me the opportunity
to get a better picture of her and her nest.

Day 113 of 2025

I have come home to find lots of plants and flowers
much bigger than they were when we left.
I also found that Mama Robin
who was building a nest before we left
 has begun sitting on it.
It's good to be home.

Day 121 of 2021

Today was fledgling day.
This is baby number two just one hop before flying off over the roof.
The nest is empty now.

Day 117 of 2021

According to my research American Robin chicks will jump out of the nest
sometime between 9 and 14 days past hatching.
Today is day 10 so I am expecting this to happen any day now.
You can see the little wing feathers on the chick on the left.
They have been stretching and flapping their wings a little more each day.

Day 110 of 2021

Mama Robin knows how to use her wings and sits very still as it starts to snow.

About an hour later she has changed position
but is still making good use of her wings.

Day 108 of 2021

Mama Robin has three little birds to feed now.
She is busy finding them food and then keeping them warm.
She does not like it when I open the window to get a picture
of her arriving back at the nest.

Day 104 of 2021

On one of the few instances that Mama Robin left her nest today,
I ran upstairs to see if I could get a peek and a picture of her eggs.
I knew there were three but wasn't able to get a good shot until today.
If I have calculated things correctly,
hatching should begin somewhere between Sunday and next Wednesday.

Day 92 of 2021

Mama Robin update:
Today while I was pointing out one of our trees that is starting to bloom
to Fireball from the kitchen window,
he pointed out to me that Mama Robin was sitting on her nest.
I had been getting a little concerned since I had not seen her around
or near the nest since she finished it last Friday.
After she left I went to see if I could spy any eggs from the upstairs window.
I cannot see any yet.
I suppose this means she has not laid them yet
or they are very far forward and out of my line of vision.
Time will tell.

Day 85 of 2021

Mama Robin has been busy for the last few days.
She has built a very sturdy nest that withstood some very strong winds last night.
Today she was doing some serious interior work.
I look forward to seeing eggs here soon.
