Day 31 of 2022

Sisters.
GB#5 really wishes she could be outside with the big girls
but settles for kisses through the glass.

Day 29 of 2022

This was supposed to be a nice progress picture after I found a problem last night
and had to tear out my work back to about row four.
I had inadvertently switched directions which created a big hole
which could not be fixed except to go back to the problem.
I thought I had done that and had knitted those rows again and then some more,
getting me to the picture above.
Right after taking the picture I found another hole.
I actually think it is the same hole.
So now I have again torn the work back
and am in the process of making sure this row is right.
I'm hoping the slow start is not an indication
of how the entire pair of socks is going to go.

Day 28 of 2022

When I got up this morning, I was not expecting this.

Day 27 of 2022

My little sock swatch turned out well so I cast on the first sock of this pair.
This is the second attempt at a comfortable needle situation.
I'm not liking it very much and I know from earlier tries with this particular needle
that my hands will soon start to cramp.
I am not able to locate my size 2 dpns (my favorite needles for socks)
so I may have to purchase another set.
I also learned a new cast on for this project.
On my second search for a cast on that works well with a rib,
I found one that alternates knit and purl stitches in a long tail cast on
which I had never tried before.
It seems to be giving me the desired effect.

Day 26 of 2022

Fireball and I went to the home show today,
and while there were many lovely things to see,
this was probably one of my favorites.

Day 25 of 2022

I'm headed out the door, but before I put my boots on,
I thought I'd show you the cute socks
that were part of the Stitch Supply advent calendar
I received from Fireball last year.

Day 23 of 2022

This pixie bonnet made its first appearance on More Curiously
when I gifted it to GB#2.
It has since been worn by her sisters, GB#4 and GB#5.
At some point GB#5 decided it didn't really need the pompom on top anymore.
It is in my possession now for the task of making and attaching a new pompom.
I think this time around I'll make it one of the fun colors in the speckled yarn.

Day 22 of 2022

Clowes Memorial Hall

It seems my computer problems last night were due to a browser that needed updating.
It's amazing how much faster and properly things work when updated.

Day 21 of 2022

It's Happy Mail day.
I may have started a fabric pull for this also.

Day 20 of 2022

It's finished.
The ends are even all woven in.
I'll get a picture of it on me if I can get some good light.

Day 19 of 2022

It is my hope to follow along with an Instagram Quilt Along,
so today I pressed my fabrics.

Day 14 of 2022

I guess I'm not good at finishing page-a-day calendars.
This one is called Kirigami from 2007.
It looks like I got only as far as early February before I stopped.
It contains all the paper, instructions for the different folds
and a design printed on it for cutting.
I had started saving the ones I did that weren't too dimensional
 in page protectors.
Now I have started cutting them again
and have put those and all the future pages in a binder.
They are really fun to flip through.

Day 13 of 2022

I'm back at the sweater redo.
I'm putting on the buttonhole band with a crocheted slip stitch
just as Little E did on the button band on the other side.
It is going well but is definitely slow work for me.
I have done about three inches. Only twenty-one to go.
Oh, and then I'll need to sew those sleeves back up...
and sew on the buttons.

Day 12 of 2022

Oh, hey there.
It's Mr. Moon in the afternoon.

Day 11 of 2022

I was able to give my second attempt at a birthday doll
to this (GB#5) September birthday girl today.
I think she likes it.

Day 9 of 2022

GB#3 came over today to work on a joint project with me.
He has the ideas and I mostly serve as scribe to get the ideas down quickly
and offer advice when asked.

Day 8 of 2022

More sorting through things is happening today.
I found this photo in a folder.
It is what Mom used to call the four generations picture.
The youngest here is my sister.
My mother is on the far left, her mother is on the far right
and her grandmother is in the middle.
I'm not sure of the exact year this was taken
as the date is cut off the back of the picture,
but Mom is no older than 25 here.

This our version of the four generations picture taken in 2017.
Left to right:
me, GB#1, Little E, Mom

Day 7 of 2021

Remember when this bank building was being torn down?
Well, evidently we needed a Krispy Kreme here instead.

Day 6 of 2022

Here is a detail of January from my new 2022 wall calendar.
It is by one of my favorite artists, Geninne Zlatkis
I usually have at least three wall calendars
so I can have one in each of my sewing spaces also,
but so far I only have one.

Day 5 of 2022

Here is an update on the sweater sleeves.
I got the extra three inches stitched on the first sleeve
and then worked the three inch ribbing.
When I compared the new ribbing to the untouched sleeve,
I could tell something was wrong.
Upon closer inspection I realized that at the end of the stockinette section,
right before the ribbing, some increases were made.
I had not noticed this important point until I was done with the first sleeve.
I have now slid my needle into the last row before the increases belong
and am ready to tear out last evening's work.
I'm sure I will be happier with the resulting cuff.

Day 4 of 2022

This has been on our list for a long time.
Real ID, done.
It's good to cross something off the list.

Day 3 of 2022

This sweater was made by Little E and I'm sure I've probably shown it here before.
It needs the buttonhole band sewn on and it should be done.
The problem for me lies in that she made it for herself
but knew she would never wear it in Bermuda where she now lives.
Because of this, she gave it to me.
This sweater was custom adjusted by my 4'10" daughter
whose arms are significantly shorter than mine.
You can see where this is going.
I need to lengthen the sleeves.
I've decided to remove the ribbing, pick up the live stitches
and knit another three inches of stockinette stitch
before knitting a new ribbed cuff.
Lots of pictures to follow.

Day 2 of 2022

It's game day.
The walk from our parking spot to the stadium is about a mile.
It is very cold today so I wore layered pants.
It was quite effective in keeping me warm.

Day 1 of 2022

Happy New Year.
It was forecast to rain all day so my plan was to stay in.
I spent a good portion of the afternoon knitting and
have come to the end of the first ball of yarn for this project.
