Day 52 of 2024

I am taking part in the Hemingway Pouch sew along.
It's only four days long and tomorrow is the last day.
I made this quilted panel in a longarm class in June of 2017.
I have been trying to figure out what to make with it
for as long as it has been sitting around in my studio.
What better use than to use it to make my pouch.
So since the first day was cutting fabric and getting it ready for quilting,
I could skip that day.
The second day was actually quilting the fabric so I skipped that day too.
Today was attaching zipper binding and the zipper.
I was waiting for an order of zippers to arrive
so this ended up being a non-participating day also.
So tomorrow is the day.
I will be starting and finishing my Hemingway Pouch.
Be on the lookout for a "finished" picture.

Day 165 of 2022

Before I begin the Swoon sew along,
I thought I should finish this up for M.
She made these blocks in 2015.
She got as far as sewing the blocks together into rows
and attaching one horizontal sashing piece.
Yesterday I found all the pieces for this project and finished the sashing.
Today I cut and attached the borders.
This one's done and now goes into the quilting queue.

Day 164 of 2022

Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms
is having a sew along for her Swoon quilt soon.
I selected these fabrics about six and a half years ago
with the intention of making one.
I even wrote myself a note, like I do, so I know what I was thinking.
It seems that I am of the personality type
that is more likely to complete a project
if I join something like a sew along for accountability.
My plan is to join and see how it goes.

Day 245 of 2021

I finished my Sew Together Bag a couple days ago.
I love the way it turned out.
There is so much room inside.
I keep thinking of different ways to use it, like a sewing kit, toiletry bag,
holder for colored pens and pencils, and so much more.
I guess I am destined to make more.

Day 238 of 2021

I got a late start on sewing today
so this week's bag assignment is only partially done,
but the week is not over yet.

Day 224 of 2021

For the outer portion of my Sew Together Bag I am using some of my orphan blocks.
I originally wanted to sew my scraps into blocks of one preselected pattern
and really make a dent in my scraps.
At the end of this process I would, of course, end up with a quilt.
Well, as it turns out, I did not enjoy making the block I selected
so I never got very many made.
I am pleased that I now have the opportunity
to use a few of these pieces for a new project.
Today I layered and quilted it
with a rough diagonal grid and then cut it to size.
This week's assignment for the sew along is complete.

Day 208 of 2021

I've had this pattern for a long time.
I've even picked out fabric and zippers a couple times,
but I've never gotten the bag made.
I think I get bogged down trying to make the first bag the perfect bag.
I just need to convince myself that there will be many more bags
so there is no need to overthink and stress over it.
A sew along has just started on Instagram
so I am going to try to keep up and actually get this done.

Day 182 of 2020

Today Ann of Stitch Supply Co announced the winners
of the last prizes of the Mugs Quilt Sew Along.
Imagine my shock when I found I was randomly selected as
the Grand Prize Winner!
I feel incredibly grateful.

Day 174 of 2020

The top of the mugs quilt is done.
I am so happy with it.
I won't be able to give it to Little E until her visit at Christmas
which might not be a bad thing.
It has to wait its turn in line to get quilted.
I have at least a couple that need to get done before this one.

Day 170 of 2020

My mugs are all hanging out together, all stitched in rows.
After I make a fabric decision in better light, I will be building shelves.

Day 169 of 2020

My last set of blocks, the espresso mug, is done.
I've arranged them on my design wall
and the sashing is all cut.
The goal now is to get the top done by the deadline.

alongside some of the essential tools for the making of these blocks.

Day 108 of 2018

Today you get a bonus picture because I couldn't decide which one to show you.
I am finally caught up on the sew along, if only for a couple days.
There is no clear cut theme for these two weeks
but you will find favorite fat quarters I finally cut into,
scraps from projects of mine and M's, and several family members represented.
I added a few chimneys this time around,
but I'm not sure I loved the process or the effect enough to make any more.
I am over halfway done with the blocks though
and I'm still loving making these little lovelies.

Day 93 of 2018

I got the chance to lay out all the house blocks I've made so far
at our quilt meeting tonight.
