Day 31 of 2021

This pair of socks began in October 2019
and the first sock was finished in November 2019.
I started the second sock last week and it is going well.
I've decided to do a different stitch design for the leg.
I know it looks super skinny.
It's a 4x3 rib and is doing what all ribs do by scrunching up.
I'll show you when I finish it by stretching it out or blocking it.
I followed the pattern exactly for the first sock
and the leg turned out way too long for the way I wear socks.
My intention is to finish the second sock with a comfortable length
and then tear back the first sock and rework it with the new design.

Day 30 of 2021

I feel the need to document each snow.
Since the next round of precipitation overnight may include rain,
I'm afraid this may be gone
or at least may not be so quiet, calm or pretty by morning light.

Day 28 of 2021

It's Thursday again so I joined GB#3 at the table.
While he did school, I started another puzzle.
This evening I finished it.
This is the 1,000 piece Thimble Blossoms puzzle.
It was both quick and fun.

Day 27 of 2021

Washed and blocked.
These came out so very soft,
and I was finally able to get a photo that was absolutely true to color.

I have now moved on the the next pair that only needs a second sock.

Day 25 of 2021

Here is a different kind of puzzle.
I plan to make something for a certain little one.
The pattern I plan to use is in the form of a PDF.
Twenty-four pages will need to be put together properly before I can begin.

Day 24 of 2021

I did a Kitchener stitch heel.
It didn't turn out half bad.
I should probably redo the toes now because I used an alternative method
that could use some improvement,
but I'm really over these socks.
I think I'm just going to move on to washing, blocking and gifting.
You see, these socks don't fit me which is probably why
it has taken me over five years to complete them.

Day 23 of 2021

I finished the puzzle I started on Thursday
and received an order from Stitch Supply Co.
It was a good day.

Day 22 of 2021

Transformers and the puzzle coexist
 on the puzzle/craft/school/game/play table.
As you can see, I selected puzzle number three.

Day 21 of 2021

The after school boys are getting some well deserved time outdoors.

GB#3 and Fireball

Day 20 of 2021

Fireball and I received some happy mail from GB#1 today.
It is always fun to see what she has sent.
Today's letters did not disappoint.

Day 19 of 2021

The eggs are restocked.
For some reason, the fewer people we have living in the house,
the more we seem to be buying in bulk.

Day 18 of 2021

I'm thinking of setting up another puzzle soon.
Which of these three should I start?
I may be setting it up on Thursday so get your vote in before that.

Day 17 of 2021

Hey, I thought I'd give you an update on the second sock.
I'm within an inch of putting in the waste yarn for heel placement.
I had hoped to get all the way there today,
but knitting on size 1 (2.25mm) needles goes slower than you would think.

Day 16 of 2021

When my children were young, they loved books.
Actually, they still do.
We took part in a couple of mail order book clubs.
Most of these are from one of them.
I have donated lots of them, but these are our favorites.
It's so hard to part with them.

(And this isn't even all of them.)

Day 14 of 2020

I dragged this one out of time out and I'm down to the dreaded Kitchener stitch...
and the second sock.

Day 13 of 2021

I baked a small batch of cinnamon roll muffins.
There is one left with just enough icing for Fireball to have in the morning.

Day 12 of 2021

Two projects I am working on each need fabric to be washed before I use it,
so while the fabrics were drying
I switched gears and made a pillow case
from a kit I purchased from Stitch Supply Co.
This one is for GB#1.

Day 10 of 2021

It seems ignoring these plants has not had a detrimental effect.

Finding the white balance control on the new camera has been frustrating.
This picture came out horribly
so I finally abandoned the instruction booklet and googled it.
I think I have it finally figured it out.
The next few pictures will tell.

Day 9 of 2021

GB#3 and I transformed some original Transformers this afternoon.
I told him I wanted to take some pictures and he knew just how he wanted to pose.
He was adamant about the fact that this was his favorite one.
He wanted to make it clear
that while this may look like an old fashioned tape player,
it is really a Transformer.

Day 7 of 2021

I'm having one last hot drink
(hot water with lemon juice and hoarded blackberry honey from Christmas 2019)
in a Christmas mug today as I intend to change the dishes tomorrow
to something frosty like a selection of blues and white.
This mug might make another appearance for the spring selection
as I usually include green in that pick.

Day 6 of 2021

I like the way my fabric pull looks in this block.
Tomorrow it will be taken to the post office
to find its way to its new home.

Day 3 of 2021

I have finished the cream hat that was intended for my head,
but there are some fundamental problems with it
that I am not ready to address yet.
I spent so much time on it and looking forward to wearing it
that I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up on it yet.
So in the mean time I started a new hat.
This one is for Fireball.
I'm using some yarn that I unravelled and conditioned
from a sweater I believe is part cashmere
that I bought at a thrift shop back in 2016.
It is so soft and a pleasure to knit.

Day 2 of 2021

Border decisions are being made.
What's not to love about Panda with all his friends?

Day 1 of 2021

For Christmas I presented my two sons with quilt tops via our Zoom meeting.
This one for T-bone wasn't completely sewn
so I had to bring the meeting up to my design wall.
Now that the quilts are not secret,
I can post them and their progress here.
Today I finished the interior of this top.
It is still in need of a border, but I feel good about the progress.
