Day 179 of 2026

Today's work in the studio was all about patterns.
I'm nowhere near done yet, but gathering, sorting
and decisions about which ones to keep are happening.

Day 166 of 2026

Today I tackled the thread drawer.
Most of my quilt piecing threads will go into the drawer I have emptied
instead of being scattered in various places on the sewing table.
The full spools of the type of thread pictured above
that I use for clothing, topstitching and other sewing
that needs matching thread will be relocated.
I will be trying to use up these almost empty spools
for things like basting and bobbin thread.
I'm not sure how I'll store them yet.

Day 162 of 2026

My studio has a set of cubbies
along the back edge of one very deep desk.
My original bins are two different turquoises and red.
The red ones have started to disintegrate
so I am replacing them with white bins
as I continue to clean up the room.
I should have enough white bins to replace all the bins
if more start to disintegrate.

Day 150 of 2026

I've been cleaning in my studio to enable me to get in there and sew.
I found this under a stack of fabrics.
Do you remember when I did the repair on the front of this quilt?
After that I was stumped as to how to repair the batting and backing
in a manner that will allow me to hand quilt the areas
that are missing their quilting due to the original damage.
I have an idea how to approach it,
but for now it will have to go in a queue
while I continue to clean up and out the studio.

Day 288 of 2025

My pressing station got a good clean up
while I was on my weekly call with Little E.
I've cleared off things that were using this space as storage
and rearranged my wool mats to accommodate larger blocks.
I started to sort through the buckets but ran out of time.
I'll start there next time.

Day 211 of 2024

It always seems to be the case when cleaning up
and sorting through an area of the house, I find treasures.
Today I am enjoying this treasure I found in my studio.

Day 69 of 2024

In just a few hours, this clock will finally show the correct time.
It will be correct for the next 34 weeks
at which time it will go back to being wrong.

Day 39 of 2024

I'm still working on the studio clean up.
Today I found the bag in the bottom right corner of this picture.
I thought maybe it had a project in it but that was not the case.
It contained lots of scraps.
Some of them are relatively recent,
but others are from projects I made a long time ago.
I'm sorting now so they can go into my color bins.

Day 319 of 2023

Today I found something I've been looking for.
It was right there in plain sight.

Day 179 of 2022

At some point the number sewing patterns has to be reduced.
I think I've made a pretty good start
deciding which ones to donate.

Day 177 of 2021

I know these pegboards were a pre-pandemic purchase,
so I can safely say it has taken a long time to get them hung on the wall.
In that time I have revised my plan for their use.
This pair sits near my ironing surface.
It will be interesting to see what I end up putting on them.

Day 221 of 2020

In my effort to clean up the studio,
I am preparing the fabric I've used for houses, mugs and masks for reshelving.
There is so much more.

Day 220 of 2020

I need to make these booties a little more girly.
I think I'm going to try making little crocheted flowers.
I'll let you know how that turns out.

Day 218 of 2020

As I was looking for another item in the studio today I found this.
It's one of those plastic zippered bags that held linens or curtains for purchase.
I love to use these for project bags or for general organization.
Part of the seam on this one had come out
and I had already put it back in place and clipped it.
Who knows why I didn't sew it up right then.

It took me about ten seconds to finish this one.
Oh, and this time I did find what I was looking for.

Day 78 of 2020

The girls wanted to cut some fabric
so I let them to use what they wanted from my scrap bins.

Day 49 of 2020

In my studio is a magnetic board on which I keep inspiration for designs,
 color, and keepsakes.
I also keep notes and samples for techniques
and important information I'll need for reference in the future.
How long do you think it took me to find this tiny note
on how to make a replacement pillow cover for Little E?
That's right it took me two days of looking everywhere but here,
all the while thinking I know I just saw it somewhere.
Luckily, I found it in time to still make another cover and send it
for her to receive while she is in the states next month.

Day 198 of 2019

I occasionally have to iron clothes.
For this I have an over-the-door ironing board.
I press quilt blocks on a flat surface which doesn't work as well for clothes.
The cover that came with the board, the blue and white one in this picture,
came pre-spotted and has a terrible, thin foam padding
which is attached to the cover fabric making it non-replaceable.
So today I finished making a new cover.
I made the pattern based roughly on the old one
and added two layers of cotton quilt batting.
I'm sure I will be much happier with my new set up.

Day 98 of 2019

As promised, here is the full shot of the quilt that needs repair.

Also, I don't believe I ever answered the latest What is it? post.
The quote is from one of my favorite songs ever -
Louis Armstrong singing What a Wonderful World.
It is even represented in my studio.

Edit:  I have written a blog post over on More Curiously about my other treasures
from the same shopping trip.
