Day 181 of 2019

Great Grandpa H and Grandma Boo.
(Fireball's parents)
Who is really doing the supporting here?
One can't really be sure.

Day 180 of 2019

Fireball is lightening the load before we remove this large limb
which has fallen on our house.
The removal went well and all humans and structures remain unharmed.

Thank you to "Ellen in Oregon" for her reply on yesterday's post. I researched the Prairie Queen block and came up with this article which shows many ways to color and piece this pattern all starting with the exact uncolored drafting (line drawing) of this block. It even shows a red, white and blue version and a red and white version that are both exactly like my blocks.

Day 179 of 2019

As promised, here is one set of quilt blocks I bought earlier this week.
Actually this is one third of the blocks.
There are forty-two in total, but this is quite representative of the lot.
Oh, and if anyone can tell me what this block is called,
it would be greatly appreciated.
It is set up on a 3x3 grid (9-patch) and looks like a churn dash block
except with four-patches where the bars usually are.
I was going to look it up but have misplaced my block book
and had no luck on the internet.
Thanks in advance.

Day 178 of 2019

While we were up north the last couple days,
I rescued one quilt top and two sets of quilt blocks.
The top is made up of Rolling Stone blocks and is in pretty good condition.
It has some yellowing and a few spots,
but nothing one wouldn't expect for something this age.
I'll show you the blocks tomorrow either here or over on More Curiously.

Day 177 of 2019

Mom's stone was finally set last month as it is something that must wait
until the ground thaws from the winter weather.
Fireball and I drove up to visit.
We brought flowers.

Day 174 of 2019

I swapped my long-sleeved shirts for my short-sleeved and sleeveless ones.
It is clear that they are mostly black, white or navy.
To be fair, my t-shirts and cardigans have a bit more color in them,
but this seems to be what I gravitate toward.

Day 173 of 2019

GB#3 loves trains.
Today he took a train ride and enjoyed all things train.

Day 172 of 2019

A mini flood in our workshop started an impromptu treasure hunt.
Among the things we found as we moved out all the things in the way
of finding the source of the water
were the Little Tykes houses and all the accessories.
I spent much of the afternoon with a bucket full of soapy bleach water.
As a bonus, part of the deck got a good cleaning too.

Day 171 of 2019

Thanks to some car knitting, all the parts are done for the baby bunny
Time to stitch, stuff and assemble.

Day 170 of 2019

Without the crew setting it up and tearing it down, there would be no show.

Day 169 of 2019

My class today was so jam packed with information and activity
that I forgot to take any pictures.
My Little Lady loved the special care she got,
and I found that one of her parts was bent and not working properly.
Equipped with a new bobbin case tension spring and tension dial recalibration,
Little Lady is stitching a fine stitch.

Shown:  Bent bobbin case tension spring on old soft towel
covered with dirty grease and oil, soiled in the cleaning process

Day 168 of 2019

I'm all packed for an all day class tomorrow.
I just have to remember my lunch.

Day 167 of 2019

I could not have asked for a better Dad for our kids or Grandpa for theirs.
Happy Father's Day, Fireball.

Pictured:  A needed cool treat on a hot afternoon at the art fair
Not pictured:  The most awesome wet sponge ball fight.
We ran and threw and laughed so hard.
We all got so wet.
I'm not sure I am going to be able to move in the morning.
I can't wait to do it again.

Day 165 of 2019

Since it is Flag Day,
I thought it would be appropriate to show you my Stars and Stripes quilt top
which I thought I had shared here before but evidently had not.
I made the top in June of 2016.
Yes, it's still a top.  Time to get quilting, I guess.

Day 164 of 2019

It's a tiny zippered pouch called a Bitsy Box
which I made as a birthday gift for a friend.
I'll definitely be making more of these.

Day 163 of 2019

"Fun at Grandma's House"

I have made the next Pinterest idea for fun with the grandkids
and most likely the kids of all ages, if you know what I mean.
These are meant to be used in place of water balloons.
Keep in a bucket of water and fire away.
I can't wait to try them out...
after I make about twenty more.
Here's how I did it.
After I cut two sponges into one half inch strips,
I alternated them and placed a rubber band around them.
Easy.

Day 162 of 2019

I have a Pinterest board called "Fun at Grandma's House."
I had a visitor today (GB#3) and decided to try out one of my pins.
I figured what's the use of having things saved on Pinterest to do
 if you never do them.
So today I made Sidewalk Chalk Paint.
It worked pretty well and was fun to experiment with.
When R came to pick up GB#3, she joined in.
As I was looking at my pictures to choose one for the Picture of the Day,
I noticed I spelled Bermuda wrong.
I feel rather silly.
If you know me, you know that this is not ok with me.
I mean, I even proofread my texts before sending.
I'll try to fix it tomorrow if there hasn't been any rain to wash it away.
The next Pinterest project has been selected.
It's going to be great fun!

Day 159 of 2019

I planted the pots in the back with Snapdragons, a family favorite.
They are supposed to be a rabbit resistant flower.
If you remember last year, the rabbit completely cleaned out my flower pots.
If this works, I'll need to make a note to myself.

Day 158 of 2019

A local construction project already has its flag and Christmas tree on top.

Day 155 of 2019

I rarely use these clips as I prefer pins,
but prepping this project needed more pins than I own
so I compromised and used them both.
When I do use the clips, I tend to clip them upside down.
They seem easier to use that way.

Day 154 of 2019

Some of the plants I dug up when Mom moved last June are blooming
despite the fact that I never got them out of the temporary pot and into the ground.
As far as I can tell they are a variety of wild geranium.
I like that I have these to remind me of her as she was great with plants
and I am not always so great.
I will enjoy them as long as I can keep them alive.
I think the fact that they are blooming is a positive sign.

Day 152 of 2019

Fireball and I got away for the day.
We took the back roads and took our time.
The flowers on our lunch table were looking a little puny
so I convinced our table mates to swap them for the ones on the next table.
It was a sneaky move but I don't regret it.
Aren't they lovely?
