Day 274 of 2020

I saw this container at Goodwill a couple days ago.
It was very hard to see what exactly was inside.
These pieces were in the container, taped across the top in a jumbled mess.
I kept thinking about it and went back today to see if it was still there.
It was, so I brought it home.
There is such a variety of smooth and sueded leather scraps.
Some are quite large.
My thought is to practice a little
and see if I can sew these pieces on the sewing machine.
If so, I see some lovely little pouches in my future.

Day 273 of 2020

The quilt top with the polka dot borders is done.
He will get eyes, buttons and a pom-pom for his hat after the quilting is done.
That may take a while. There are several in queue before this one.
It started out as a Buggy Barn pattern, but I made my own snowflakes
patterned after some paper cuts of one of my children.
By the time I was ready for the arms,
I had misplaced the book with the pattern in it.
After extensive Google searching,
I found a picture of the quilt and found he only had one arm,
but mine had to have two so I designed a second one.
I am thinking this one will definitely need a red binding.

And I have great news -
GB#5 was born today!
More on that later.

Day 272 of 2020

My attention and activities were all over the place today,
including making my strawberry popsicles.
I also put those polka dot borders on their quilt
at which time I won a game of Thread Chicken.
It was very close.

Day 271 of 2020

Here is my view as I watch football this evening.
I've been sorting, counting, doing math and making decisions about this quilt
and the extra quilt I will get from the leftover pieces.
At one point Fireball asked if I was still cipherin'.
And then I found another small bag of pieces that needed the same process.
Yes, I am still ciphering.

Day 270 of 2020

Signs of fall.
I think I take pictures of these flowers every year.
They get me every time.

Day 269 of 2020

I am using my pattern matching skill on this quilt border.
Do you see it?

Day 268 of 2020

It hasn't rained here in a long time.
Some of our flowers were feeling it so we made our own rain.
The bonus was our very own rainbow.

Day 267 of 2020

I really like the way my design boards are keeping me organized
while cutting out a new quilt.
They rotate residence from my puzzle space to my sewing space.
Maybe I need to make more.

Day 265 of 2020

While out and about today, Fireball and I spied a peaceful spot.

Day 264 of 2020

I guess this puzzle will only get this first and only update.
This is a Jim Shore design with 1,000 pieces.
His designs always have quilt elements in them.
Note here the sails on the boats, the hot air balloon, the star corners,
the cloud, water and border swirls,
and the triangles in the upper right corner of the sky.

Day 263 of 2020

GB#5 is due to arrive in just over a week.
I am so glad I was able to get this quilt done before that happens.
Along with the quilt I included two gold frames to use
to indicate baby's age at the time of the picture taking.

Day 262 of 2020

This quilt for daughter-in-law, CJ, is officially done
 and will be presented tomorrow.
The pattern is Moda Love.
The fabrics I made it with all came from my stash
including some fabrics from dresses I made for GB#2 and GB#4.
I'll post more pictures and close-ups on More Curiously soon.

Day 261 of 2020

I've been skimming through some of my quilt books the last couple nights.
Saturday is National Sew a Jelly Roll Day.
I keep flip flopping about whether to participate.
According to my bookmarks, I have plenty I'd love to try.

Day 256 of 2020

Here's another sneak peek at the quilt I am working on.
I finished this area tonight as we had a Hamilton viewing party this afternoon.
I'm hoping to finish up the quilting on this one tomorrow.

Day 255 of 2020

I found two very nice quilt tops at an antiques business
on the way home from our road trip yesterday.
Today the fog and clouds cleared enough for some pictures.

Day 254 of 2020

An impromptu road trip revealed golden fields.
It began in a fog which never lifted.

Day 253 of 2020

I've started quilting a new quilt but it's a secret
so this is all I can show you.
Stay tuned.

Day 251 of 2020

Tomorrow is my birthday.
I got an early gift.
I have a lot of reading to do.

Day 250 of 2020

The artwork of one GB usually stays until the next one comes to visit.
I try to remember to take a picture before that happens.

Day 247 of 2020

I began the loading process for the next quilt up,
but the kitchen was calling so I'll finish it tomorrow.

It's someone's birthday. Go see at More Curiously.

Day 245 of 2020

I finished this pillow on Saturday but was not able to gift it until today.
The block is an extra from my Stars and Stripes quilt
 and is long overdue.
