Day 184 of 2026

I tried to pick this little empty storage drawer up
to remove it from the big room
and it completely shattered.
It's a good thing I had already decided
that I didn't need it anymore.

Just for fun I'm going to leave the blast from the past pictures here.
This one is from July 2, 2016.
It was not picture of the day but an outtake
from the photo shoot of this quilt that did make the blog that day.

Day 142 of 2022

My scraps are sorted by color,
placed in their respective bins
and put on the newly installed second-hand book shelf.
I still need to cover some of the bins in fabric of the proper color
as I could not find bins in all the colors I wanted,
but it is making me happy
and will make working on scrap projects a lot easier.

Day 349 of 2020

Fireball installed a new light fixture in the big room where the longarm lives.
This is the first time I have seen it from the outside at night.
Wow, that's bright.

Day 289 of 2020

A five way furniture switch happened today in the house.
This small but tall shelf unit found its way here
and I took the opportunity to put all my charm packs together,
at least all the ones that are not already wrapped up with other fabrics
and an idea in my head.

Day 281 of 2020

Since I finished the last quilt I have put the borders on one quilt
and cut or organized the pieces for three more quilts.
Now I am switching back to quilting.
The back is loaded and I feel fortunate to have gotten that much done
as I have done something to my own back and can't really move very well.
Reaching is one of the more painful moves I can make.
I'm hoping that Advil and rest will take care of this fast.
I am eager to start on this next quilt.

Day 247 of 2020

I began the loading process for the next quilt up,
but the kitchen was calling so I'll finish it tomorrow.

It's someone's birthday. Go see at More Curiously.

Day 238 of 2020

My eye allowed me to get back to quilting today.
I have one more row of background across the bottom
and then I can start on the color sections.

Day 236 of 2020

It's been almost a year since I quilted anything on my longarm
so I was a little (a lot) nervous to get started on this quilt.
My lines are not all straight, my circles are not all round
and my spacing is not all consistent,
 but it is going well.
I am improving my confidence.
I could not ask for more.

Day 27 of 2020

Today's baby step was loading the batting.
Done.
While I was there I laid the quilt over the rails.
This does not mean I loaded it.
Baby steps.
I did take an extra step today and started to pull thread colors
that I may want to use in the different colored sections of this quilt.

For those wondering, here is a post on the quilt top with a full picture.

Day 79 of 2019

This is my design wall or should I say my giant bulletin board.
It seems that I use it more to pin up color inspirations in the form of napkins,
greeting cards, papers and magazine pages.
It is the home to orphan and test blocks, hand written instructions,
origami, crochet and quotes.
A favorite childhood blouse of mine wants to take center stage,
but now I need the space to display my current project
to make the arrangement, and subsequent rearrangement, of blocks easier.
I worked here all afternoon but wasn't able to get the wall clear.
I first have to tackle all the yarn and yarn projects
that sit in tote bags in front of the design wall.
I worked on that today.

Day 295 of 2018

The distraction level can get pretty high when I am trying to clean and organize,
especially when I find sweet little writings that M did many years ago.
I like that she hugs her sister a lot and likes to play with her brother.
On the next page she drew her other brother
and talks about going to his school to hear him sing.

Day 288 of 2018

Sometimes a calm and centering activity is what is needed.
Organizing my fabric shelves by color fits the bill.

Day 291 of 2016

I thought I was going to finish a quilt today.
The board had other ideas.

Day 198/365

Today I knocked my magnetic pin bowl onto the floor.
The force of the magnet was no match for the force of the impact.

Day 193/365

Fireball helped me install a curtain rod with clips in the Big Room today.
This spot will serve as the on deck circle for the next quilt to be quilted.
The idea is that when I come in to work on the current quilt,
the next one will be hanging so I can form ideas about quilting designs.
If the quilt isn't too big, it will also make a great place to take my "before" picture.
This next one was made for GB#1 for her first birthday.
She's almost 3.
It's time to be brave and finish it.
