Day 299 of 2026

Today's full moon came out just before dark.
My camera caught it much more orange than it was,
but the cloud cover in front of it
was too interesting not to post it anyway.

Day 241 of 2026

Early this morning at 12:12
was the peak of a 96% partial lunar eclipse.
It was visible here in Indiana.
 Shortly before midnight
it occurred to me to look up how to photograph it.
I took quick note of the equipment I needed and the settings to try.
I went to the driveway and set it up.
I got two photos that were fairly clear.
I'm happy with my quick try.

Day 338 of 2025

The full super moon was gorgeous tonight.
My photo on the other hand turned out very grainy,
but I really like it because it reminds me of children's book illustrations.

Day 337 of 2025

There is going to be a super moon tomorrow,
but tonight's moon was very big and bright.
One can never be sure if the weather will cooperate,
so I thought it was a good idea to get a picture tonight.

Day 289 of 2024

97% waxing gibbous.
Tomorrow is the full moon,
but I could not pass up this shot of tonight's moon.

Day 229 of 2024

90% waxing gibbous.
The full moon will be Monday.
(I especially love the craters that show up
on the bottom left of the moon. Zoom in.)

Day 99 of 2024

The Total Solar Eclipse 2024 was the experience of a lifetime.
This photo is the best I could do with my limited equipment
and lack of research on how to actually capture the moment.
Regardless, it's a great reminder.

Day 95 of 2024

On Monday the total solar eclipse will be visible in our city,
barring cloudy skies.
We are ready.

Day 55 of 2024

The moon was either way too bright
or the sky was a weird color,
so instead I settled on a very grainy picture
of the full moon with a spooky mood.
