Day 59 of 2022

I've changed the dishes in anticipation of March.
I've chosen Meadow, Shamrock, Evergreen and White.

Day 58 of 2022

Tonight for a side to go with dinner I made the most beautiful
 and tasty hash brown potatoes.
I even took pictures.
But this picture of my little pretzel snack
spoke to my orderly side much more.

Day 57 of 2022

Lego Toy Story Land
or
one of these things is not like the others.

Day 56 of 2022

It's been a week since my last sock post so I think it's time for an update.
I completed both heel flaps and heel turns.
Last night I finished the first instep and started the second one today.
I am getting so close.

Day 55 of 2022

This is the sweater I finished that Little E started.
I attached the buttonhole band, finished the buttonholes,
added the buttons and tore out the original ribbed cuff
to add three inches of sleeve before re-knitting the ribbed cuff.
I really like it but every time I put it on,
I reach for pockets that are not there.
I will be adding some soon.
You can see more pictures of this project if you click on the label "knitting"
in the left margin and scroll down through the posts.
This project started in early January.

Day 54 of 2022

It was very gray and cold,
but this guy was still wanted to get his message out.

Day 53 of 2022

A local fabric shop which also sells yarn had a 2-22-22 sale today.
I bought this yarn with the intention of another pair of socks.
It is so soft.
I hope alpaca isn't too fancy for socks
or they will have to be my fancy socks.
Fireball says he will certainly be able to find me
if I make a neon pink pair.
Of course, I also bought fabric.

Day 52 of 2022

Almost symmetrical.

Day 51 of 2022

We were behind this car on the road today.
I'm guessing her sticker indicates that sewing gives her life.
Yes, I get that.

Day 49 of 2022

I am loving it.
I hope you aren't tired of it.

Day 48 of 2022

I think these dishes can air dry while I go do some knitting.
My second attempt at the heel flap is turning out much better.

(photo taken Thursday, 2-17-2022)

I got a question about yesterday's picture appearing to be Thursday's post.
I'd like to try to explain to erase any confusion.
From the beginning (2012) I have taken the picture I post on the proper day.
The issue comes from instances in which I am out of town in a different time zone,
at an event, having computer issues, having internet issues,
or getting too wordy like today and time gets away from me,
any of which might prevent me from publishing my post on time.
In these cases the post is published after my computer has gone on to the next day.
I cannot change the date my computer assigns to it.
My title for each post (e.g. Day 48 of 2022) is always the day I took the picture,
but the date above the post is the day and date the post got published
which is not necessarily the same day I took the picture.
You could also check the spot at the bottom
which says "Posted by Sharon..." for the time.
If it indicates the it is shortly after midnight,
it really is the prior day's picture.
Maybe if I know a post is going to be late,
I will put a note at the bottom of the post
indicating what date the photo was taken.
Would that be helpful?

Day 47 of 2022

I was so excited to finally get to change colors and start the heel flaps.
I am following the instructions to the letter
and have checked them over and over
as my flap isn't showing the pattern I know from pictures
and past experience should be appearing after this many rows.
While waiting for my computer to load tonight,
I watched a video on YouTube
and checked the sock instructions from the 1965 booklet
and now I know the problem is with the pattern.
Tomorrow I will be tearing out this beginning of a heel flap
and knitting it as I know it should be.
I have read through the rest of the pattern
and have some issues with some of the future instructions.
I may be winging it from here.

Day 46 of 2022

Little did I know when I was making this for Fireball for Valentine's Day
that he would also be making something for me

Pattern and instructions can be found on It's Always Autumn.

Day 44 of 2022

I am slowly working on my second sock,
I dressed up my nails for Valentine's Day tomorrow
and I am loving my Sew Together Bag as my new knitting notions bag.

Day 43 of 2022

Urban Fabric.
I saw this new art installation for the first time today
on the facade of this parking garage.
It looked very quilt-like to me so I went looking for information about it.
I found a short description of it in this article
I guess there is another art installation that is quilt related also.
I'll have to find that one next time I'm in town.

Day 40 of 2022

This little booklet, copyright 1965, is a treasure trove of knitting patterns.
Some of the fashion choices, especially the hats, are a bit suspect,
but the basics of mittens, socks and gloves are great.
I took a break from knitting my socks in the car
(I can only knit for so long before finding myself feeling queasy)
to actually read through the basic sock pattern.
It has always intimidated me with all the charts
and rows of numbers for the eight different sizes offered.
It seems quite customizable for my short foot with a high instep.
I'll probably try this pattern for my next pair.

Day 39 of 2022

T-bone, GB#2 and GB#4 made a snowman family.
This is the mom and her too cool son.

Day 38 of 2022

Peppers and onions ready for roasting-
these colors get me every time.

Day 37 of 2022

I just started listening to a new book today.
I heard a word I had never heard before so, of course, I looked it up.
I always do.
I especially like to listen to how it is pronounced.
Do you do this?

Day 36 of 2022

Sock update.
I have finished the cuff portion of my first sock.
I have decided to split my yarn into two parts
in order to begin work on the second sock before finishing the first one.
I saw this done on Instagram by someone
whose name I cannot remember at this time.
I will update this post as soon as I figure it out.
The way I interpret the idea is that after each section is done on one sock,
you do that same section on the other.
This way when you finish one sock, the other is almost finished as well
thus avoiding the dreaded Second Sock Syndrome.
Also I think it will help me with figuring out
if I have done the second sock the same as the first sock
as measuring progress at the same point on each sock
will be more evident before heading into another portion.
With all that said, I have started the second cuff
and will move on to heel flaps after that.
More updates to come.

Day 35 of 2022

I enjoyed an afternoon of hand sewing.
At this point the light was just right.

Day 34 of 2022

I think it's a quilty thing but when I saw these cores
from spiralizing carrots for salads tonight,
I saw empty large spools of Aurifil thread.
Who's with me on this?

Day 33 of 2022

Our rain turned to sleet and finally to snow.
It has stopped for now but will resume around 4:00 in the morning
and continue until early Friday.
We have been promised 8 to 12 inches of snow.
I should be able to tell how we are doing based on the deck railing
on the right in the picture.

Day 32 of 2022

Yarn dreams.
Possibly a future sweater. I just have to figure out yardage.
I'm a little short.
My options are find a coordinating yarn to fill in somehow
or see if I can make the proposed sweater short-sleeved.
I'm leaning toward more yarn, of course,
but it may have to wait until next week.
We are expecting lots of snow in the next couple of days.
