Day 142 of 2026

I feel like these socks are coming along like
 The Little Engine That Could.
I'm done with the heel flaps
and these adorable little pink heel turns on both socks.
Now I am going to be chugging away
at the gusset decreases for a while,
but I know if I keep chugging, I'll get there.
I'll let you know when I get to the straight foot section.

If you weren't sure,
the picture yesterday shows magnetic water balloons.

Day 133 of 2026

I've had a hard time getting back to my red socks
after finishing my Musselburgh hat.
I'm back to it now
and have finished the heel flap on sock number one
and have started the flap on the second one.
I'm hoping to finish these pretty quickly
as the weather is getting warmer
and I have outdoor projects I'd like to get done this year.
Of course, I also have other knitting projects in queue
that I'd like to get to.

Day 114 of 2026

Now that the hat is done, I'm back at my socks.
I completed three more pattern repeats
and started the heel flap today.
It has not been hard to jump back into.
I'm trying to be better at finishing things
before I cast on a new thing.
Sometimes it cannot be avoided.

Day 49 of 2026

In general, today was a pretty productive day.
With regards photos and the blog, not so much.
I took some pictures I was really excited about early in the day
that turned out unusable due to focus issues.
These issues were absolutely user error.
That lead me to give you a sock update instead.
My electronics sometimes take longer
than I think they should to talk to each other.
The result is a Picture of the Day
that has an incorrect date for a post title.
So to be clear, this picture was taken on
Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Day 39 of 2026

Happy mail.
Actually not mail, but a delivery none the less.

Day 35 of 2026

The cuffs of both socks of my next pair are finished,
marked and ready for the leg pattern to begin.
If you remember this post, I can tell you that this is much closer
to the actual color of the yarn and I am really loving the combo.
I did the research I talked about in that post
but ultimately decided not to change
what I have already been doing on my socks.

Day 14 of 2026

I have selected the yarn for my next sock project.
That didn't take long.
Unfortunately, by the time I got the yarn wound
it was dark outside so the color is not true.
As soon as I cast on and knit a bit of each color,
I'll take a picture in the daylight
for a better representation of the actual color.
I wanted to cast on tonight,
but I have been researching stretchier cast ons instead.
I think it's a good investment of time to learn something new
that may result in a better product in the end.

Day 10 of 2026

I'm almost there.
I checked the fit and length of the toe,
have made some adjustments per a consultation with M,
and will make an effort to finish the second sock tomorrow.
After that is blocking so I'm hoping I can share a picture
of the finished pair on Monday.

Day 306 of 2025

Sock update:
Both heels and heel turns are done
so I've done my first gusset
and have started the gusset decreases.

Day 301 of 2025

I finally finished the heel flap and heel turn on sock number one,
so it's on to heel flap on sock number two.

Day 290 of 2025

I haven't been knitting lately but did pick this sock up yesterday
and made a little progress.
Today I thought I'd knit a little more.
After a couple rows, I decided to count my stitches
and found I had two too many.
I have no idea how I did that
but I suspect it happened at that little bump
on the left near the bottom needle.
I will be tearing the heel out once more
and hoping that the third time really is a charm.

Day 281 of 2025

This is my second start for this heel.
These needles are very slick
and are great for the stockinette stitch in the round.
They are not as good for me on the back and forth
 with a slipped stitch pattern.
My stitches keep falling off the end
and are so hard to fix without just starting over.
I think I'll try switching to my bamboo needles
to see if they have more grip.

Day 262 of 2025

I'm comparing my current sock with a favorite sock
that I made previously to see if I can stop
or need to continue a little further.
I've decided to bring the second sock up to the same point
and then decide whether I need to knit a little more or not.

Day 259 of 2025

Both cuffs are done and I've started the main yarn.
I did not know I was going to love it so much.

Day 254 of 2025

I am back to my knitting which was going very well...
until it wasn't.
Somehow I have lost a stitch.
I have looked and looked.
At this point, I am done looking.
I am moving on and if it doesn't appear when I come back around,
I will just be adding a stitch.
Let's face it, it will be down on my foot
where no one will ever see it but me anyway.

Day 252 od 2025

My first cuff for the new pair of socks is done.
I like to work both socks one step at a time, alternating socks.
That means since this cuff is done,
I am ready to work the second cuff.
This assures me that both socks will turn out the same.
It also means that once the first sock is done,
the second one is very close behind.
There will be no second sock syndrome.

Day 248 of 2025

I have begun the next pair of socks.
It feels a bit confusing at this point,
but I have done another round and a half since I took the picture
and feel like I am on the right track.
