Day 181 of 2022

I hope you're not tired of this quilt yet
because I finally got the last two borders on it last night.
I just washed the fabrics for the backing and the binding.
Once I get those made up, I'll put it all in the quilting queue.
I already know how I want to quilt this one.
I should write myself a note.

Day 179 of 2022

At some point the number sewing patterns has to be reduced.
I think I've made a pretty good start
deciding which ones to donate.

Day 177 of 2022

When one is extra tired,
the kitchen floor seems as good a place as any
to spread out your blanket and lie down.

Day 176 of 2022

I have prepared my borders for sewing and almost forgot to show you
my pattern matching on the seams.
Here's one of them.
Some turned out better than others.

Day 175 of 2022

My little Mother's Day plant has sprouted something from her head,
or it that a feather in her hat?

Day 174 of 2022

It was a date night with Fireball.
Where are we?
Be as specific as possible.

Day 173 of 2022

This little jacket needs a new zipper.
Before I sew the new zipper in, I need to fix a tiny hole in the front.
I thought I'd try to disguise it but thought why not feature it instead.
This little flower measures one half inch.

Day 172 of 2022

While my border fabric for the blue and green quilt was in the washer,
I finished the hand sewing of the wavy stem on this quilt.
I cut several leaves and circles out of scraps from a Christmas paper project
and have begun the process of figuring out how much is enough
or too much in the leaf and flower department.
Double sided tape is great for this part of the process.

Day 171 of 2022

I've finished the center of this quilt top.
I have one more decision to go which I will try to work out tomorrow.
I am really liking how this is turning out.

Day 169 of 2022

I made major progress on this quilt today.
The picture shows nineteen of the first twenty blocks
that were complete at the time the photo was taken.
I have since finished all thirty blocks.
I'll wait to take that picture until I have them arranged, sashed and bordered.

Day 168 of 2022

This has been a good week for working on and finishing
 some sewing and quilting projects.
I did make some major progress on my 30s quilt
but it doesn't look a lot different on the tray yet.
If I work in the evenings, it is usually handwork.
Tonight I've chosen to work on this applique stem
that needs to be stitched down
so I can audition leaves and flowers to compliment it.

Day 167 of 2022

I made a lot of progress today on this quilt.
I sewed all the remaining strip sets and cut them into the needed sections.
Now I can work assembly line style, my favorite method.
I have lofty goals for tomorrow.

Day 166 of 2022

This little quilt is from the book Fantastic Fabric Folding by Rebecca Wat.
I made the top when the book came out in 2000,
quilted it just a few years ago and finally bound it today.
It's small so it will go on a wall or be used as a table topper.

Day 165 of 2022

Before I begin the Swoon sew along,
I thought I should finish this up for M.
She made these blocks in 2015.
She got as far as sewing the blocks together into rows
and attaching one horizontal sashing piece.
Yesterday I found all the pieces for this project and finished the sashing.
Today I cut and attached the borders.
This one's done and now goes into the quilting queue.

Day 164 of 2022

Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms
is having a sew along for her Swoon quilt soon.
I selected these fabrics about six and a half years ago
with the intention of making one.
I even wrote myself a note, like I do, so I know what I was thinking.
It seems that I am of the personality type
that is more likely to complete a project
if I join something like a sew along for accountability.
My plan is to join and see how it goes.

Day 163 of 2022

I'm teaching GB#2 the all important skill of playing RACKO.
If you know anything about this game,
you can tell that I had a long way to go with this dealt hand.
I did not win this round.

Day 161 of 2022

There's a new Fiesta color available (peony) and I'm smitten.

As for yesterday's question, here is a post in which I posed the same question,
and I answered the question in this post although this time I went with Fireball.

Day 160 of 2022

Here are some things you should know.
My computer is old for a computer.
My computer is very full.
This is the only picture from today that would load.
It was going to be a two part Where am I? picture
 but that one didn't load,
so I'll tell you that the Part 1 answer is downtown.
The part two question will be pretty easy also
since this was going to be my answer picture, but here goes anyway.
Part 2: Why are we downtown?

Day 157 of 2022

I was trying to finish a small project tonight that involves a lot of topstitching.
I found myself playing a very serious game of thread chicken.
I really had my doubts this time.
As evidenced by this photo, the thread came off the spool,
but I definitely won this round.

Day 156 of 2022

This is the worst thing that could happen
 when you've spent three days
trying to capture the essence of a person's ninety-two years
in forty photos and that project is due tomorrow.

Day 155 of 2022

I opened the pantry today and was surprised to find one shoe.
I wonder how long it has been missing.

Day 154 of 2022

I was feeling better enough to spend some time in the studio today.
I untangled the mess this project had become
and discovered that the center piece for each block was cut wrong.
Luckily I cut it too big, not too small.
I even had enough energy to assemble three of the thirty blocks.
I will leave one block on this board while I make the rest of the blocks.
It helps me to not get pieces sewn on sideways.

Day 153 of 2022

This has been my view all day when I wasn't sleeping.
I'm feeling quite puny and I barely have the energy to keep my eyes open.
Posting this picture is most likely to totally wear me out.
If you need me, I'll be sleeping right here.

Day 152 of 2022

I understand the concept of monitoring the grocery carts
so people don't decide to take them home,
but this is a little ridiculous.
At this point in my journey, still several feet from my car,
the wheels on the cart locked up.
I emptied the cart and walked the contents to my car
after which I had to forcibly drag it up over the curb in order to move my car.
I guess the next time I will have to go talk to the management
about expanding the legal boundaries of the cart kingdom.
I will also try to remember to never park in this aisle
even if the first spot is open.
