Day 199 of 2024

I found another box of decisions.
There are no notes to tell us what belonged to whom.
The very old doll is not in great shape and is super creepy.
Ideas welcome for how to handle this kind of stuff.
Let this be a reminder to put notes on things.

Day 118 of 2024

Today we took a road trip to celebrate and remember Fireball's parents
whose birthdays and wedding anniversary all fall within a month's span.
One stop found us at a small zoo.
GB#2, GB#3, GB#4 and GB#5 all found themselves in an eagle's nest.

Day 18 of 2024

Yesterday I thought this was one of the quilts
I had picked up at an antique mall or estate sale.
This morning I saw this embroidery on the corner
and remembered that it came from the Old House.
The name and date are deceiving
because one might think it was the name of the maker
and the date she made it.
That cannot be the case because the name here is Fireball's mother
and the date is just one year after she was born.
Years ago she gave me a couple of quilt tops
that she said her grandmother made,
so I am going to guess that it was that same grandmother
that made this quilt for Fireball's mother when she was a baby.

Day 117 of 2023

I'm back at the Old House today.
From just part of the garage, this recycling bin is full.
It is filled with every sort of plastic and glass container
saved from food, juice, milk and all other items sold in these containers.
I'm sure I will fill it again and again
as I move through the rest of the garage and the basement.
It is very apparent that Great Grandpa H
and Grandma Boo were Depression Era kids.

Day 156 of 2022

This is the worst thing that could happen
 when you've spent three days
trying to capture the essence of a person's ninety-two years
in forty photos and that project is due tomorrow.

Day 64 of 2021

We got to visit Fireball's mom today.
We were so relieved to finally be able to visit her.
Fireball last saw her in person in September of 2020.
I last saw her in person in December of 2019.

More Curiously has a quick post with both of Fireball's parents.

Day 355 of 2019

Some family members couldn't make it down to our Christmas celebration yesterday,
so today some of us brought the celebration to them.

Note:  This is the first time since 2012 when I started this blog
that I have broken my own rules
and used a picture that I did not take.
The very helpful nurse on duty did the honors.

Day 181 of 2019

Great Grandpa H and Grandma Boo.
(Fireball's parents)
Who is really doing the supporting here?
One can't really be sure.

Day 231 of 2017

When you only come to the States a couple times a year,
it's important to see all the people.
