Day 151 of 2019

This was my tool of choice today.
I like the heat hot and the steam high.

Day 150 of 2019

I've picked coordinating fabrics.
I am one step closer to actually sewing something.
Can you guess what I'm making?

Day 148 of 2019

I couldn't find anything to bring with me to my quilting meeting tonight
so I grabbed this little kit that came with one of my regular magazines.
Then I almost forgot to take a picture today
so I have taken a shot of my progress on above mentioned kit project.

Day 147 of 2019

Every year I take pictures of these irises.
Every year the color isn't quite right.
Today I wanted to take a picture
before the storms take the last of them for the year.
It was already raining but I took the picture anyway, and guess what?
The color came out perfect.
Note to self:  Take purple iris pictures in the rain.

Day 145 of 2019

Baby Bunny lives under the deck.
I don't think his survival senses are fully developed yet
as he did not run when I first came out in the yard to see him.

Day 144 of 2019

As promised, this is the gift I gave Fireball for our anniversary last year.
I folded forty-three tiny, solid colored origami hearts
and placed them in this tiny jar.
I promised to make another heart each subsequent year.
So this year I folded another, made out of a paper with a printed design,
which has now joined the others.
Here's to many more tiny hearts.

Day 143 of 2019

It seems this week is all about the fabric.
There are a couple birthdays coming up and I am inspired to make a few things.
I even got the fabric washed so I will be ready to sew.

Day 141 of 2019

Here's me in the mirror, in the mirror, in the mirror.

I wanted to see how I did on this reverse French, or Dutch braid.
I'm thinking it's not too bad, until it gets closer to the bottom,
considering that it has been a long time since I tried one of this kind
on my own head.
Next time I might try this upside down,
starting at the neck and ending at the top of my head.
That will be a sight, won't it?

Day 138 of 2019

Today I am working on a fabric pull
and have forgotten I was going to get a photo of something else.

Day 137 of 2019

Today we celebrate.  Forty-four.

Today's post would make much more sense if I could link to the post
of last year's gift to Fireball,
but as it turns out I didn't take a picture of it or post anything about it.
So tomorrow, if time and circumstances permit,
I will take a picture and post it to clarify for you.
See you then.

Day 136 of 2019

More yard transformation happened today including planting this new dogwood tree.
Later we experienced a severe thunderstorm
and suffered some damage to our existing maple tree.
So here it is, new dogwood (left) and large broken limb (right)
still attached but hanging.
We'll have to get up there and trim it out as soon as it is not raining so hard
and try not to damage the new plants in the process.

Day 133 of 2019

This tree is a volunteer walnut tree.
It is very close to our deck which was not a problem when it was small.
I thought it might give us some nice shade as it got bigger,
but now it is causing a problem in our seating area with limbs on guests' heads.
I think it will have to go.

Day 132 of 2019

Here I was struggling with what to post today to convey the Mother's Day feeling
and then M sends me this photo in a text.
 It's perfect.
Our family was complete.
Happy Mother's Day.

Day 131 of 2018

At the Children's Museum under the Chihuly is the youngest GB and me.

Fireball and I celebrated Mother's Day early with a trip to the museum
with two of our four children,
both of our daughters-in-law, and three of our four grandchildren.
We had a great time and even a little rain did not bother us.

Day 130 of 2019

The garden clean up continues.
Large front pot contains rescued daffodils.
Huge back pot contains rescued day lilies.
Some will get replanted in the freshly weeded original bed.
Some will find new homes in other parts of the yard.
After that, I will likely still have some left.

Day 129 of 2019

On Tuesday while I was working on the forever shawl,
this happened.
I had over 400 stitches on the needle at the time
and lots of them fell off and were just sitting there live.
I quickly strung them all onto a contrasting piece of yarn.
In the process more stitches fell off the cable.
Needless to say I was in quite a panic.
They are all safe now but I'm sure there will be stitches to fix
as I get to them when I start to knit again.
I have found another circular needle to use so I can begin soon.

(shown is my cowl still not blocked, not shawl in question)

Day 128 of 2019

After another day working on the front yard,
I took a survey of the back yard to see how things are doing.
The lilac is coming along slower than I expected
but looks like it will have quite a profusion of blooms once they open up.

Day 127 of 2019

I have been a part of a little quilt group for approximately twenty-five years.
This is a great group of ladies.
Each time one of us loses a loved one,
the others will make quilt blocks in his or her memory
and present those blocks to her.
Tonight I was presented blocks in memory of my mom.
The blocks are three inch finished and were quite a challenge.
It has been a rough six months for me and
I appreciate that each member was willing to step up to the challenge,
learn something new just to make blocks for me.
I love my little baskets.
Thank you.

Day 126 of 2019

It was another fun day of playing in the dirt.
I didn't remember to take any garden pictures, but honestly,
they wouldn't have looked much different than the one from yesterday.
I am so tired (in a good way) and I can hardly move
so instead I will share with you a proverb
from my hot chocolate mug this evening.

Day 125 of 2019

I got to play in the dirt today.
I will play in the dirt tomorrow as well.

Day 124 of 2019

Remember that time you went clothes shopping
and most of the items you brought home were black and white?
Oh, wait.  That was me...today.

Day 123 of 2019

An early Mother's Day gift arrived today in a refrigerated box.
What a happy surprise!

Day 121 of 2019

So, "where am I?
Fireball and I went downtown to see the show "Waitress."
I really liked it.
It was funny, sad, and hopeful.
