Day 210 of 2026

We are on our way home but need to stop here
for a very short layover.
Do you know where I am?

Day 209 of 2026

We have a free day before we head back home.
My plan was to drive north to see two houses I used to live in
and drive by the schools I attended
during my thirteen years of living in California.
Ultimately, considering traffic and other time constraints,
I decided I would be happy to just visit the closer of the two locations.
It turned out to be a great decision.
We had time to walk around the campuses at our leisure.
My former home has a sale pending so the owner,
 who happened to be there,
let us come inside and take a self-guided tour.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to reminisce
and talk about her history there and mine.

Above is my former high school campus.
When I moved to Indiana during my sophomore year,
I remembering being startled that the lockers at my new school
 were inside the building.
I remember explaining that ours in California were outside
and my classmates were just as startled as I had been.

Day 187 of 2026

I have found a few notebooks and notepads that have notes and lists
from previous trips I've taken.
This one was from a trip to a quilt show almost ten years ago
at which I took some classes.
The part I like the most is at the very top.
We were told to quilt the big designs first, then filler designs
and then (my favorite part) grid where you forgot to fill.

I did not have a problem with today's picture.
Tomorrow I'll go back and see if I can get the others to work.

Day 173 of 2026

We're headed home and decided not to take the interstate
with all the slowdowns due to summer road construction.
We're taking the state and county roads
 that have similar travel times.
This way we can enjoy the expansive fields, farms and sky.

Day 172 of 2026

We're on an adventure today and got to meet up
with someone we haven't seen for years.
We accidentally both wore our super hero sweatshirts.
I had to document it.

Day 87 of 2026

We've concluded our Seattle 2026: The Flower Tour and are heading home.
Of course this visit wasn't just about the flowers.
It was also about family, celebrations, food, conversation, laughter,
sharing these experiences and so much more.

Tile art is at Sea-Tac International Airport.

Day 86 of 2026

Ballard Locks is one of my favorite places.
This afternoon was a great time to visit.

Day 81 of 2026

Every airport has their own special art.
This installation was at Las Vegas Terminal 3.
It is

"Mirare" by Stu Schechter

Day 80 of 2026

We made it to Las Vegas for a tribute for my uncle
who passed away in December
after which we were graced with a beautiful sunset.

Day 59 of 2026

We were out today near the Old House and decided to walk by
and see how it was doing.
We were shocked to see how inhospitable it was.
I am so sad to see such a great house give off such a vibe.
I cannot know what Great Grandpa H's reaction would be
if he were still here to see this,
but I imagine it would include both sadness and anger.
Click here to see the Old House in 2023.
You can also click the Old House label in the left sidebar
on the blog page for some pictures of the beautiful interior.

Day 277 of 2025

I spent the day in Bloomington today.
I decided to visit campus and found the South Lounge
where I spent a lot of time
between classes when I attended school here.
These cubbies, now filled with model cars,
used to hold newspapers from across Indiana and the country.
Many of the labels are still there.

I would sit and read the paper from my high school home town.
Today I sat and worked on knitting projects.

Day 238 of 2025

On our last morning before our flight home, we headed to the water again.
This time we followed a previously unseen path.
It took us under the drawbridge we have walked across all week.
This is the Montlake Cut that connects Portage Bay with Union Bay.

Day 233 of 2025

The Museum of Flight was fascinating
and more than one can take in with just one visit.
We will definitely have to return.

Day 232 of 2025

We packed a lot into the day,
but Fireball is in his favorite spot at the end of the day.
The view is of Portage Bay, Seattle, Washington.

Day 231 of 2025

Fireball and I are off on another adventure and, as is customary,
I've taken a photo of Fireball in the shelter
where we wait for the shuttle
near where we parked our car.
