Day 150 of 2025

For the last few days
I've been going through past issues of quilting
 and knitting magazines.
I'm deciding whether there are any projects
in each that I will realistically make.
Then I make the decision to save the whole magazine
 with post-it bookmarks,
tear out the article I want and save it in a binder
or recycle the entire magazine.

Day 78 of 2025

Here's a sneak peek of my good start on the snowman quilt today.

Day 77 of 2025

I've oiled and run the machine.
I've attached the clamps to the sides
and took the slack out of the exposed quilting area.
I've placed a piece of scrap fabric on the extra side batting
and done my practice designs and checked the tension.
I'm ready to start quilting.

Day 339 of 2024

I got behind on my advent calendar again so today I opened two boxes.
Day three surprise is a very smooth pair of scissors.
Day four is a Christmas pillowcase kit.
I'm loving the artwork and color scheme this year.

Day 337 of 2024

I am once again doing the Stitch Supply Co advent calendar.
I'm a day behind, but I'll open two boxes tonight.

Day 54 of 2024

I forgot that today was going to be a bonus for the SAL.
We were given directions to make a mini pouch
with the leftovers from our original pouch.
I had a couple of scraps that I put together
and got a good medium sized pouch.
Mug in the picture and yesterday's pouch are for size reference.

Day 53 of 2024

As promised, here's a picture of the finished Hemingway Pouch.
I have to say that this was a quick, fun and easy make.
The pattern has four sizes.
This is the large which measures 9" x 12".
This will definitely not be the last one I make.
Below is the link for the pattern in case you'd like to make one too.

Day 52 of 2024

I am taking part in the Hemingway Pouch sew along.
It's only four days long and tomorrow is the last day.
I made this quilted panel in a longarm class in June of 2017.
I have been trying to figure out what to make with it
for as long as it has been sitting around in my studio.
What better use than to use it to make my pouch.
So since the first day was cutting fabric and getting it ready for quilting,
I could skip that day.
The second day was actually quilting the fabric so I skipped that day too.
Today was attaching zipper binding and the zipper.
I was waiting for an order of zippers to arrive
so this ended up being a non-participating day also.
So tomorrow is the day.
I will be starting and finishing my Hemingway Pouch.
Be on the lookout for a "finished" picture.

Day 50 of 2024

I'm a little late but I made these coasters for Fireball for Valentine's day.
He plans to leave one at home and take one to the office.

Day 32 of 2024

A few days ago I mentioned that when it comes to quilts,
I get things done more often if I join a quilt along (QAL.)
I've decided to join in with Tiffany of Village Bound Quilts
as she hosts 2024 Finish It Quilt Along.
It will last the entire month of February
so be prepared to see lots of progress pictures.
I've decided this snowman quilt will be the first thing I will work on.
He's been loaded and basted for longer than I can remember.
I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure it will be fine.
It always is.

Day 314 of 2023

A couple years ago I got the advent calendar box
 from Stitch Supply Co.
It was lots of fun.
I decided it was time to do it again.
It arrived yesterday but I opened it today.
I can't wait to start.

Day 296 of 2023

I'm getting back into my routine but took a break
to look for this book that I was reminded that I have.
There are some great patterns I've marked for future projects.

Day 61 of 2023

I attended the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show today
and was impressed with lots of the quilts this year.
I am always especially interested
in seeing the quilting designs that have been used,
and I thought this one was exceptionally good.
Below is the card that was attached to the quilt
 for quilt and maker information.

Day 54 of 2023

I'm still at it.
Different day, different room.
I'm almost done and then it's practice, practice, practice.

Day 53 of 2023

I am taking a wonderful online quilting class from Bethanne Nemesh.
Today I watched about five hours of class.
I am very impressed by her knowledge, experience and teaching style.
More happening tomorrow.

Day 284 of 2022

I made a trio of bags for a birthday gift for R.
The two larger ones are free patterns on the Tilda website
that came out to accompany the Windy Days fabric line.
The small coin purse is made from an Amy Butler pattern from 2007
 called Stash & Dash Bags.
I'm not sure if it is still in print.

The large and small bags are made from canvas by Andover,
and the medium bag is made from Rifle Paper Co. canvas fabric.

Day 281 of 2022

Thank you all for being patient with me
and to those who reached out to see if everything was ok.
It didn't occur to me until today
that I could have commented on the last post to explain.
Future me might remember this if I ever have trouble again.
My computer had been giving me trouble for a while
and I intended to warn you ahead of time that if I went silent for a while,
that was most likely the cause.
Of course, I was not quick enough with that message
and my computer stopped performing the functions I needed in order to post.
So here we are with a new computer loaded with all my old stuff
and me trying to learn all the new things
that have come about in computer land in the last eleven years.

This day I went to a quilt show put on by our local quilt guild.
Besides all the beautiful, new quilts on display,
one of my very favorite things is to see the old quilts
 on display in various places.
This one caught my eye in a vendor booth.
I asked permission to take this photo,
which the vendor graciously granted.
We had a good conversation about this.
In case you don't know, it is never okay
to take pictures of or in someone's booth.
Sometimes the vendor will grant permission
to take a picture of a quilt on display
 if the pattern was purchased.
Otherwise, you are taking advantage
of all their hard work without compensation.

Day 269 of 2022

I am matchstick quilting some of my Rifle Paper Co. canvas.
(quilting lines are 1/4" apart)
I am very pleased with the effect.

Day 231 of 2022

This one's done.
It is a pattern called Sexy Hexy Love Quilt by Amy Butler.
I believe it was a free pattern that came out with her Love fabric line.
It looks like the fabric line (not the fabric I used in my version of it)
came out in 2009.
It is entirely possible I made this top before I even started this blog in 2012.
It feels good to have it done.

I think I came out late to get this photo.
The neighbors' tree has created shadows on the left side.
I didn't get that last time I took morning pictures.

Day 228 of 2022

This is the quilt for which I loaded the red and white wintery flannel backing
He's loaded, basted and ready to roll.
I have selected thread and changed it on the machine.
I have even started drawing out designs I think I might use
in different parts of the quilt.
