Day 32 of 2024

A few days ago I mentioned that when it comes to quilts,
I get things done more often if I join a quilt along (QAL.)
I've decided to join in with Tiffany of Village Bound Quilts
as she hosts 2024 Finish It Quilt Along.
It will last the entire month of February
so be prepared to see lots of progress pictures.
I've decided this snowman quilt will be the first thing I will work on.
He's been loaded and basted for longer than I can remember.
I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure it will be fine.
It always is.

Day 231 of 2022

This one's done.
It is a pattern called Sexy Hexy Love Quilt by Amy Butler.
I believe it was a free pattern that came out with her Love fabric line.
It looks like the fabric line (not the fabric I used in my version of it)
came out in 2009.
It is entirely possible I made this top before I even started this blog in 2012.
It feels good to have it done.

I think I came out late to get this photo.
The neighbors' tree has created shadows on the left side.
I didn't get that last time I took morning pictures.

Day 228 of 2022

This is the quilt for which I loaded the red and white wintery flannel backing
He's loaded, basted and ready to roll.
I have selected thread and changed it on the machine.
I have even started drawing out designs I think I might use
in different parts of the quilt.

Day 222 of 2022

Since I'm on a roll getting things quilted,
I thought I'd load another one up so I'm ready.
I had a particular one in mind but found another one in the stack
that should be a quick win so I'll do that one first.
Here is the backing.
Can you guess which top I will be quilting next?
Hint: I have posted about it before.

Day 216 of 2022

I like to try to include a little sunshine on each quilt I quilt.
This quilt has ended up with a lot of sunshine.
Each medium sized hexagon is filled with sunshine.
And that's a wrap. Next week, binding.

Day 215 of 2022

I am nearing the end of quilting this quilt
and I think this is my favorite part of it so far.

Day 211 of 2022

Since our last look at the longarm machine,
I have loaded, basted and started quilting this quilt top I made a long time ago.
I'm not sure of the exact year, but there is a copyright date of 2009 on the pattern.
At any rate, I am working out the kinks that come with being away from the machine
for a while and I am pleased with the progress so far.

Day 207 of 2022

This can only mean one thing.
Get ready for some longarm quilting pictures in the next several days.

Day 338 of 2020

Well, I finally got the quilt outside for some pictures.
The details are all over on More Curiously along with lots more pictures.

Day 304 of 2020

The finish line is in sight.
Now I just have to remember to go back and quilt those two triangles I missed...
and the one seed shape I found the next day.

Day 293 of 2020

Color number two is done.
The triangles will be the same across the quilt
but the filler in the seed shapes will change.
I've moved on to color number three
which is getting stitched on very busy fabrics
making it hard to see the designs.

Day 292 of 2020

I've decided to start with the color portions of this quilt
and go back and do all the gray background at the end.
This quilt will take at least eight thread color changes.
I've finished pink, the first color.

Day 284 of 2020

I was able to get this quilt top loaded and basted today.
I even changed my needle so I am ready to go.
Well, I have to decide on a filler design for the gray areas
because that is where I am going to start.
But wait. Just now as I am typing this and looking at my picture,
I am having another idea.
I guess future updates will let you see what I decide.
At any rate there are quilting designs and thread colors to decide.

Day 281 of 2020

Since I finished the last quilt I have put the borders on one quilt
and cut or organized the pieces for three more quilts.
Now I am switching back to quilting.
The back is loaded and I feel fortunate to have gotten that much done
as I have done something to my own back and can't really move very well.
Reaching is one of the more painful moves I can make.
I'm hoping that Advil and rest will take care of this fast.
I am eager to start on this next quilt.

Day 263 of 2020

GB#5 is due to arrive in just over a week.
I am so glad I was able to get this quilt done before that happens.
Along with the quilt I included two gold frames to use
to indicate baby's age at the time of the picture taking.

Day 262 of 2020

This quilt for daughter-in-law, CJ, is officially done
 and will be presented tomorrow.
The pattern is Moda Love.
The fabrics I made it with all came from my stash
including some fabrics from dresses I made for GB#2 and GB#4.
I'll post more pictures and close-ups on More Curiously soon.

Day 256 of 2020

Here's another sneak peek at the quilt I am working on.
I finished this area tonight as we had a Hamilton viewing party this afternoon.
I'm hoping to finish up the quilting on this one tomorrow.

Day 253 of 2020

I've started quilting a new quilt but it's a secret
so this is all I can show you.
Stay tuned.

Day 241 of 2020

I finished quilting the Moda Love quilt this evening.
It was too dark outside for a full picture so I accordion-folded for you.
I may wait until it's all bound to take the outdoor shot.
