Day 271 of 2019

Today was another busy day of dress shopping,
and M found her dress.
I can't show you pictures of that,
so instead, I will tell you that we are staying in a lovely Airbnb
with lots of special touches including fresh flowers in every room.

Day 270 of 2019

We're on the search for "the" gown.
This is really why I flew west.

Day 268 of 2019

I'm up with the sun so I can get things done
before heading to a different time zone.
The next several posts will be published later than usual.

Day 266 of 2019

The main construction is done.
All that is left is one hem, two hooks and the details...
all those details.

Day 265 of 2019

Today was the home opener for the Colts.
The Colts won.
After the game the center of the field filled with people.
It reminded me of school sports and Little League.
"Good game."
"Good game."

Day 264 of 2019

Here is some of my pattern drafting in application.
Each of these sections are separate double-layer pieces,
all sewn to the base bodice.

Day 263 of 2019

Pattern drafting is messy work.
It also takes lots of thought.
I put extra time in making sure every detail is not overlooked
because everything must work out on the first try.

Day 262 of 2019

Yes, I am swatching again.
I need a good airport/airplane project really soon.
I need this project to be at the point that I don't have to do too much thinking
so I can also listen to a book at the same time.
I started with the recommended needle at the bottom which was way off.
I went up a needle size and am now a half stitch from target gauge.
I'm afraid if I go up one more size, I will be way out of line the other direction,
so this will have to do.
I'll be knitting socks so gauge is very important.

Day 260 of 2019

You know how I love construction.
Well, this has been going on for a while and I am a bit perplexed.
There are three of these taller portions along this strip.
Neither of the other two are being worked on.
I can't figure out if they are making a style change
or there was some kind of structural problem
prompting them to redo this section.
I guess I'll find out when they are done
or if I stop and ask a worker if I am back in the area.

Day 259 of 2019

Today I bought more of the supplies needed for this next project.
Did I mention I have about a week to finish it?

Day 258 of 2019

My next project is going to take some thinking outside the box.
I did a lot of research and brainstorming today.
I think I'm off to a good start.

Day 257 of 2019

Do you remember this building I posted in June?
Well, this is the progress that has been made in the last three and a half months.
It appears there will be no conventional exterior walls, just lots of glass.

Day 256 of 2019

I quilted again today.
Again, I am only showing you the back,
this time because this project is a secret one.

Thursday, September 12, 2019

Day 255 of 2019

I finished the quilting on the top I showed yesterday.
I decided to show you the back because it's easier to see the texture
without the distraction of the piecing.
Once I get the binding on it, I'll show the front too.

Day 254 of 2019

Getting back to some quilting.
I'm all set up to start in the morning.
It's been a while so
I'll be working on my confidence as I sleep.

Day 253 of 2019

As I have mentioned before,
I love it when I write notes for myself.
I bought the two fabrics on the right and bottom a couple years ago.
Today I am following my own instructions.
One down, one to go.

Day 252 of 2019

Isn't it about time for another shot of the moon?
Waxing Gibbous 85%

Day 250 of 2019

Soft pretzel with cheese sauce.
Standard arts fair food.
Also, those eyes.

Day 248 of 2019

There is always a reason NOT to do my nails at any moment.
I finally decided it was time, and look,
toes to match.

Day 247 of 2019

They weren't kidding when they titled this puzzle.
Here's a little backstory.
My mother-in-law brought this to Thanksgiving dinner in 2014.
It is a full two page spread of the paper.
The clues go over 800 in each direction.
Many of us worked on it then and for a bit after that.
Once home by myself, it was up to me.
I had to tape it onto our drafting board to make it workable.
I have worked on it on and off for the last five years.
Tonight I finished it.

Day 246 of 2019

I have the next three months mapped out as far as sewing projects go,
and feels like a pretty tight schedule.
So the fabric for the next project went in the washer today
and the fabric for the next two got washer time as soon as
the first went into the dryer.
Note that I will be using some of my very old Kaffe fabric.

Day 245 of 2019

Of all the costumes I've made over the years,
this is one of my very favorites.
Shoe covers, not shown.
This one was made at least thirty years ago.
It proved to be a favorite today among the little ones too.
