Day 168 of 2026

Cardinal at the feeder.
He also spent a good amount of time on the ground
under the feeder.

Day 156 of 2026

I filled the feeders today
so I spent some time watching the increased activity.
It may not be especially clear to see,
but the adult woodpecker (stripes showing)
is feeding a young one (belly showing.)

Day 69 of 2025

I put my 75-300mm zoom om my camera today
to see if I could catch the flicker at the feeder again.
I didn't see him today but had fun photographing other visitors to the yard.
I had a hard time deciding which picture to post
so I posted two more over on More Curiously.
Go take a look. There is a fan favorite over there.

Day 65 of 2025

Northern Flicker came to the feeder.
I got some shots of his face but this was the best one
that showed the red spot on the back of his head.
Maybe he'll come back and I'll try again.

Day 38 of 2025

The backyard was a hive of activity today.
There were lots of birds.
The squirrels were exceptionally busy
and I saw my first chipmunk in a while.

Day 296 of 2024

Pileated Woodpecker.
This is the first time I have seen one at the feeders.
I have only ever seen one in the woods before.
She is huge.

Day 191 of 2024

We've had two pairs of bluebirds at the feeders lately.
Today was one of those occasions.

Day 164 of 2024

We had quite a variety of birds at the feeders today.
This guy, red-bellied woodpecker, got my vote for picture of the day.
I got a new bird bath last year which the birds couldn't seem to find.
I have moved it closer to the feeders just off the deck
and now all the critters are enjoying it.
They seem to be getting more comfortable with humans
sitting out on the deck and have been venturing closer.
I'm hoping to get some bird bath pictures to share soon.

Day 134 of 2024

Big D and I were just talking about Blue Jays at the bird feeders.
This morning I happened to catch a couple
who visited several times for quite a while.
So this photo is for Big D...and the rest of you.
