Day 163 of 2024

I recently read a book that suggested that one should plan
One Little Adventure and One Big Adventure each week.
While it's not always easy to do, I try to make a conscious effort.
This week, tonight's concert definitely falls into
the One Big Adventure category.
The entire concert was fabulous, but
this was probably my favorite moment.
After two encore songs, there was still time left
so James Taylor and his son, Henry,
who had been singing backup all night,
sang a duet of one my favorites - "You Can Close Your Eyes."

Day 251 of 2023

Today Fireball and I went downtown
for a fabulous Kickoff Concert for my birthday.
Our first regular season football game is Sunday.

Day 311 of 2020

Fireball "took" me to a concert tonight.
It was great!
Any guesses who is performing here?

Day 179 of 2020

Fireball and I "went to" a concert tonight.
We actually went to the den and set up the live stream concert.
It was great and we had the best seats in the house.

Update on yesterday's post:
It seems that I actually bought enough of the fabric
to make a table runner and two kitchen towels,
so in total, I hemmed six ends.
I also figured out why I got stuck on the project in the first place.
The fabric is navy, red and cream.
I remember thinking I should match my thread
(and change it in the middle of the hem)
to whatever color was showing on that end.
In the end I just changed my thread to cream and did all the hems the same.
I do overthink these things.
Conclusion:
It took longer than thirty seconds but...
DONE.

Day 43 of 2018

This is our beautiful theater.
Photographs and video recordings are forbidden during performances
(although many people were taking them anyway)
so I took this one just before the second half of the program began.
John Williams conducted the music of John Williams.

Day 189 of 2017

I always seem to take the same picture when we attend the Symphony on the Prairie,
so on this gorgeous night I decided to go with something different.

Day 170 of 2016

Another season of Symphony on the Prairie kicked off this weekend.
Among other things, the orchestra played
Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World."
It is one of my all time favorites.
I have heard this piece a million times both live and recorded,
but tonight it almost made me cry.

Day 289/365

It was my intention to post a beautiful picture of downtown tonight
as I never grow tired of those pictures,
but after our concert was over, we exited to the lobby to see this.
Everyone hung around to see what happened next.
He asked her.
She said yes.
A hug.
Pictures were taken.
Although these are pretty fast, blurry cell phone pictures,
they are certainly more exciting than my downtown building pictures would have been.

Day 196/365

(I apologize in advance for the grainy cell phone picture.  They do not allow my real camera at this venue.)

While James Taylor sang Sweet Baby James,
I looked to the left of the stage where the giant video screen is displayed
and noticed the gorgeous sky on this perfect night for an outdoor concert.
