Day 229 of 2026

I was hoping to finish color number 5
before my cutoff for today's picture.
I didn't quite make it but only have one repeat (two rows) left.
I'll finish them before I go to bed.
I am officially more than halfway done with this blanket.

Day 227 of 2026

I have several project bags that have a different project in each.
It occurred to me today that if I put a small tassel
of the yarn used in the project on the zipper tab,
I can grab the right bag without opening it
 or second guessing myself.

Day 223 of 2026

I was not able to attend Flock Fiber Festival this year
as it was too close to our San Diego trip.
It would have involved a one day layover at home
before flying back to the other side of the country.
M agreed to be my personal shopper
and grab some things I had my eye on
and to pick what she thought I would like
 when there were options.
 My happy mail arrived today
and I am very happy with my haul.
M is a great personal shopper.

Day 220 of 2026

I need to make the shape at the top
out of yarn but much smaller.
Here's how I'm going to do it.
I have traced the original (too large) shape.
Per my calculations,
my new shape needs to be 40% of the original size.
I have calculated what the vertical
and horizontal measurements should be in inches.
I wrote that down on the original paper.
Since my original size is bigger than one sheet of paper,
I marked a cutting line and added diamond marks to line up later.
I cut my original in half and made copies of both halves at 40%.
Out popped my tiny copies which I will tape together
using the diamonds for matching up.
I will use my now reduced hand written dimensions
 to check for accuracy.
All that is left to do is make my little yarn piece
using the tiny pattern to check the shape and size as I go.
Expect progress pictures.

Day 212 of 2026

I've started color number 5.
(Photo taken 7-30-2026)
Computer issues prevented me from accessing my blog yesterday.
Issues have been resolved.
I'll begin posting One Big Adventure pictures tomorrow.

Day 200 of 2026

It's been a while since I've knitted anything.
My hand has been giving me some pain
so I thought it best to give it a break.
Tonight I was able to get color number three finished.

Day 180 of 2026

Color two went pretty fast and
I have decided the rest of the order of colors.
I've started color number three
and have finished a few rows already.

Day 178 of 2026

I've started color number two on this knitting project
and was able to get a few rows in today.

Day 171 of 2026

I've started something new.
I think I finally have a system to remember what to do
on each row thanks to the alternating colors of the markers.
One color is for right side decreases
and the other is for the wrong side increases.

Day 167 of 2026

I saw a woman online take an orphan granny square
and attach it to a baseball cap with a logo she didn't like on it.
It occurred to me that I had a tote given to me
that had a blacked out name on it.
Then I remembered that I have a bag of orphan granny hexies
that were meant for another project that I will never finish.
I had quite a few that were good options
but ultimately chose this one which gives me bright summer vibes.
I sewed it on with a large zig-zag and matching thread
and now it feels like a new tote.
It already has a knitting project in it.

Day 148 of 2026

Puffy Checks Socks update:
I promised to let you know
when I reached the straight foot section
 of these socks.
The decrease section on both socks is done,
and I have am halfway to the toe section on my first sock.
It feels like real progress.

Day 142 of 2026

I feel like these socks are coming along like
 The Little Engine That Could.
I'm done with the heel flaps
and these adorable little pink heel turns on both socks.
Now I am going to be chugging away
at the gusset decreases for a while,
but I know if I keep chugging, I'll get there.
I'll let you know when I get to the straight foot section.

If you weren't sure,
the picture yesterday shows magnetic water balloons.

Day 133 of 2026

I've had a hard time getting back to my red socks
after finishing my Musselburgh hat.
I'm back to it now
and have finished the heel flap on sock number one
and have started the flap on the second one.
I'm hoping to finish these pretty quickly
as the weather is getting warmer
and I have outdoor projects I'd like to get done this year.
Of course, I also have other knitting projects in queue
that I'd like to get to.

Day 120 of 2026

I just received the yarn I preordered from
in her newest collection.
It is absolutely gorgeous and soft.

Day 114 of 2026

Now that the hat is done, I'm back at my socks.
I completed three more pattern repeats
and started the heel flap today.
It has not been hard to jump back into.
I'm trying to be better at finishing things
before I cast on a new thing.
Sometimes it cannot be avoided.

Day 113 of 2026

I finally finished the knitting of the Musselburgh hat.
I am so excited about it.
Tomorrow I'll block it and figure out a way to show you
the four different ways to wear it.

Day 99 of 2026

I am within an inch of beginning the decreases
of the other end of this hat.
That sounds like a good time
to show you my color inspiration.
In the foreground is my hat.
The background contains one of my favorite,
ready-made scarves.
Quite a while ago I pulled colors from my sock yarn stash
that were as close as I could get to the originals.
My initial intention was to make striped socks,
which I may still do,
but then this hat pattern came to mind from my mental queue.
I don't know if I will ever wear the hat and scarf together,
but it feels good to make another item
that contains all these happy colors.

Side note: I don't wear long scarves much anymore.
I rather prefer a cowl so I may connect the ends
at the proper length to make that happen.

Second side note: The blue and blue with black sections
are for the reverse side of the hat.
It will make sense when I show you the final project.

Day 89 of 2026

I realize that it looks like I am knitting an Easter egg,
but I assure you that it is a reversible hat.
I finished all the stripes on our trip
so I am able to continue straight rounds in one color for a while...
unless I decide to put in a random stripe or two.

Day 75 of 2026

This will be a double-sided hat.
The next thing to knit will be the brim
 for the opposite side hat.
But first I need to try it on to see if the length is good.
It appears it is. Onward.
