She has been preparing for it all year.
She has been one busy lady.

Day 271/365

The Dionne Quintuplets

When I was a young girl my mother had a scrapbook of the Dionne quintuplets
which I would look through often.
I found it fascinating.
So when I found this postcard in an antique shop in Michigan last week,
I knew I had to get it.
I don't know if Mom still has the scrapbook or not.
If not, I have my own memento now.

Day 264/365

For the next week I will be sharing pictures from my current road trip.
I will be here in Michigan attending the Holly Girls Quilt Retreat.
It is so serene I could sit and watch the water all day, but quilts await.

Day 263/365

There is a new member of the family.
I can't wait to get her cleaned up, oiled and running smoothly.

Day 261/365

I am leaving for the Holly Girls Quilt Retreat in a couple days.
Note to self:  Bring all the thread.
I might need it.

Day 258/365

Done.
Two down. None to go.

Deadline quilting - love it, hate it.
While it is stressful, it does force me to get things done.

Day 256/365

I am binding again and was struggling earlier this evening with each stitch.
I switched to one of the new needles I bought last week.
Things are going so much better now.
Don't ever underestimate the importance of a good needle.
Quilting should be fun, not a struggle.

Day 255/365

I understand that coloring is a calming activity.
The pencils have been sharpened.
I am ready now.

Day 251/365

Today was a great day for a birthday.
I had lunch with a friend, visited my local quilt shop, got in a little quilting,
and topped it off with dinner downtown with my family.
I could not have asked for a better day.

Day 250/365

Here is a new favorite sandwich around here.
It is a grilled cheese with crisp apple slices inside.
Yum!

Day 249/365

I started this quilt in my Abstracts in Solids workshop
with Gwen Marston in June at Madeline Island School of the Arts.
I finished the top today and will begin the task of quilting it tomorrow.

Day 248/365

I finished this sweet girl late last night.
She went to live with the sweet birthday girl (GB#4) today.
The pattern is in Mollie Makes issue 14.
There are more photos over on More Curiously.

Day 247/365

The leftover triangles from my last two quilts are calling me.
I am trying not to listen.

Day 246/365

I finished this quilt top just in time for picture of the day.
I can only give you a sneak peek from the wrong side since it is still secret until Saturday.
(Happy Birthday, GB#4!)

Day 245/365

This is Reddy Kilowatt.  Read more about him here
When I was young, growing up in southern California,
my Girl Scout troop took a field trip to the electric company.
We all received pins just like this.
I am sure I still have my pin although I don't know for sure where it is.
It's probably somewhere in the attic.
At the time I thought he was just a California thing.
After reading the article I see that this is not true.  He has been all over the world.
It is funny that I should find him today in an antique store
as I was just telling my family about him a few days ago.
Yes, he came home with me.

Day 244/365

September is National Sewing Month.
I think I've made a good start.
