Day 60 of 2016

It's Leap Day and T-bone and CJ are leaping for joy.
Their little family has just moved into a new home
and will spend their first night in it tonight.

There is also a little photobombing going on here.
Do you see her?

Day 58 of 2016

New pens.
I might be getting ready to try out some hand lettering.

Day 57 of 2016

I've loaded the next quilt up and think I have finally settled on the quilting plan.
Hopefully I can get a start on it this weekend.

Day 56 of 2016

Yesterday we spent time making magazine clipping collages with the girls
in their favorite colors, pink and purple.
Today I spent some time finishing my magazine clipping project.

Day 55 of 2016

A day with Grandma filled with lunch, toys, make believe, snow watching, snacks, hair styling, books, snuggling, magazine crafts and NO napping somehow turned into running with string which in turn changed into just running.  I think this falls into the category of "If I stop, I might fall asleep."

(Oh, and photographing running children inside without much light is pretty difficult.)

Day 54 of 2016

One of my quilting friends brought this lovely old quilt to our meeting tonight.
I love the wide orange sashing and all the different fabrics.

Day 53 of 2016

It's been an odd day for pictures.
After an eye doctor appointment this morning
I took pictures of the beautiful reflections in the office building windows.
The pictures all came out blurry and weird due to the fact that my eyes were dilated
and I really couldn't see what I was doing.
When I got home to make breakfast I cut open this most perfect avocado.
Its color was a beautiful, perfect green.
This picture doesn't show that.
I tried to adjust the color to reflect the actual color I saw,
but I recently updated my computer's operating system,
and the photo edit controls have all changed,
and I can't find the proper tool.
So this is it for the day.  Tomorrow will be a better day.
With all that said, I am loving my morning avocado these days.

Day 52 of 2016

The weather was nice.
We need to eat dinner.
Why not walk to the grocery?

Day 51 of 2016

As a gift, the quilt will need some sort of wrapping,
and a coordinating pillowcase seems like the perfect thing.

Day 50 of 2016

Looking to the south as the sun is setting in the west,
much softer colors fill the sky.
I like it very much.

Day 49 of 2016

I have given tiny fingers to Kell's tiny hand.
(Note:  His hand is just a little more than 1/2" wide.)

Day 47 of 2016

Oops!  Little E left a little something in her quilt top
Good thing I turned it over as I loaded it up today.

Day 46 of 2016

I love the texture and softness that results after washing the finished quilt.
It makes it seem much cozier.
Cozy - giving the feeling of comfort, warmth and relaxation.
Yes, I looked it up.  That sounds about right.

Day 45 of 2016

GB#3 marvels at his new bespectacled look.
It was so fun hanging out with this little guy today.

Day 42 of 2016

The unraveling of my thrift shop cashmere has begun.
I think this is going to go well.

Day 41 of 2016

I'm keeping cozy on this very cold day with this beautiful shawl
Little E made for me a couple years ago.

(Don't try to update the operating system on your computer right before you need to post today's picture.
I had no idea it would take so long.  Sorry for the delay.)

Day 40 of 2016

Tonight was quilt meeting night.  Our host provided fruit as part of dessert.
It was delicious.

Day 39 of 2016

The day the hawk got away.
If you look closely, you can see him in the bottom left corner of the picture.
He had been sitting in the tree ruffling his feathers
until he suddenly decided to fly off.
He probably saw me.
Or he didn't like the neighbor's dog barking.

Day 37 of 2016

Cousins.
After gymnastics treat.
Blue slushies.  Blue tongues.  Blue teeth.
Silly girls.

Day 36 of 2016

This quilt is next up for quilting.
This one was made by Little E.  She calls it her "Epic Kell" quilt.
It is based on the cover of a book called
A Darker Shade of Magic: A Novel by V. E. Schwab.
Kell is a character in the book.
Didn't she do a great job?
More about the beginnings of this quilt here.

Day 35 of 2016

A walk around campus of the university I attended
revealed things I am sure I did not appreciate when I was a student.

Day 33 of 2016

Here is a texture shot of the back of the doll quilt from yesterday.
I didn't use the rulers as much as I had planned.  I practiced swirls instead.
It's a pretty tiny quilt.
I'll show you the front once I get the binding on.

Day 32 of 2016

I've loaded up my next quilt to be quilted.
It is doll-sized and I plan to practice some ruler work on it.
I'm not sure where this one came from but I found it in my old doll cradle in the garage.
It has some very interesting old and fun fabrics in it.
