Day 90 of 2018

GB#3:  Write your name on it.
Me:  Ok.  Should I write Sharon or Grandma on it?
GB#3:  Grandma

Obviously.

Day 89 of 2018

This week in the village we are celebrating spring, Easter
and finally some sunshine.

Day 88 of 2018

The upholstery on the seat back at lunch today
seemed to be asking to be considered a pebble quilting example.
I am thinking of sending the photo to my iPad
for some tracing practice in a drawing app.
Let's build some muscle memory.

Day 87 of 2018

Hello, Spring!
They are a little beaten down by the rain,
but they are my first of the season and deserve the recognition nonetheless.

Day 86 of 2018

Now that I am pretty much caught up on sewing houses,
I certainly don't want to get behind on coloring houses.

Day 85 of 2018

I'm a little late with this next set of blocks, but I really like these.
These are made with scraps from clothing I made for all four grandchildren.
The block in the middle is a reroof job of a block I did for week five.
The new roof material is the actual fabric used in the quilt
which I couldn't find when I was making the block originally.
The roof I removed will not go to waste.
I'll use it on another house.

Side note:  Maybe I should recover my ironing surface.
There appears to be a nice big scorch mark on the lower right of the board.

Day 83 of 2018

So we are enjoying more spring weather today.
The official total at 10:00 this evening was ten inches.

Day 79 of 2018

While cleaning up my studio a little bit,
I decided to change things around a little also.
I'm working on cutting this week's house blocks and I'm liking the change.
Of course, there will be no "honest craft room" post here.
The rest of the room is still quite the disaster.

Day 78 of 2018

I know this picture looks like a bunch of boring muffins,
but there is more to it than that.
I had one very ripe banana.
I mashed it and realized it was only half of what I needed for banana bread,
so I cut the recipe in half and proceeded.
I don't own a mini loaf pan so I got creative and used my muffin tin
to make little individual "loaves" of banana bread.
Of course I did a taste test.  Success.
The best part is it only took a fraction of the time to bake.

Day 76 of 2018

There was excitement at the grocery today.
At one point I saw six police cars, a fire truck, an ambulance,
and one man in handcuffs surrounded by at least ten officers.
I have no idea what was going on.

Day 75 of 2018

Week six houses.
I've made a few St. Patrick's Day blocks.
I am lacking fabrics that have shamrocks on them
so I rounded out the eight with some (mostly) green ones.

Day 74 of 2018

Morning appointment.
The directions said go here.
All went well.

Day 73 of 2018

A slip on the stairs led to a trip to urgent care
and a glue repair of this little chin.

Day 71 of 2018

After yesterday's colorful sunset,
today started as a nice sunny day but the clouds rolled in
 just an hour after sunrise.

Day 68 of 2018

While prepping to sew today I pinned until I ran out of pins.
I need to sew a little to free up some of the pins so I can prep the rest.
I am excited to make some time
to work on this little belated Christmas project.

Day 67 of 2018

Week five blocks are truly scrap blocks.
These houses represent three quilts, two quilt tops, two pillow cases
 and one large tote bag.
If you are reading this you may own one (or two) of these items.

Day 66 of 2018

The only way to get something done is to work on it.
I have had a nice selection of Goodwill shirts pulled,
ready to be paired with an equally nice selection of quilting cottons
for a fun quilt I'd like to make, for a very long time.
The only way to efficiently use the shirts
is to cut them apart into useable flat pieces.
So the cutting apart has commenced and I am working on them slowly,
whenever I have a few minutes.
I am already more than halfway there.

Day 64 of 2018

I am considering setting my antique blocks with red
as the very subtle blue I had purchased for the job seemed to wash out the blocks
 instead of highlighting them.

Day 63 of 2018

I've set up my Bullet Journal for the coming week.
This format is not my idea but that of Judith (@mysocalledbujo on Instagram)
which I have chosen to try.
I have changed very little as it helps me to just have something workable,
 that I will actually use,
and not have to make the design decisions.

Day 62 of 2018

Mom has a kaleidoscope collection.
This one is filled with feathers.
It is my favorite.

Day 61 of 2018

Village blocks 25 through 32 turned out to be mostly traditional Christmas blocks.
My helper wanted to take on the dog or cat role of walking on the blocks
as soon as he saw them on the floor.
I suggested he lie down and be photographed with them instead.
Yes, that worked out well.

Day 60 of 2018

Siblings.
I found this photo in the new guest room clean-up.
What a treasure.
