Day 119 of 2021

This is about half of the shirts I de-boned today
I have collected the shirts over many years and have done this process many times.
As I was selecting some to use in a future project,
I kept finding more I had not de-boned yet.
They take up so much less room this way
so I am on a quest to get them all done.

Day 118 of 2021

Today I cleaned a lot of different stuff.
I started inside but ended outside on the front porch.
I've been wanting to see if I could get the siding and gutters
looking better for a long time.
I took a lot of before pictures but forgot to take most of the afters.
This one is hard to see but if you look really close,
you can see that the top is clean and the bottom is not yet.
I am excited to know that my cleaning method will work
and I will be able to get the exterior looking fresh this year.

Day 117 of 2021

According to my research American Robin chicks will jump out of the nest
sometime between 9 and 14 days past hatching.
Today is day 10 so I am expecting this to happen any day now.
You can see the little wing feathers on the chick on the left.
They have been stretching and flapping their wings a little more each day.

Day 116 of 2021

Good morning.
It's out with the old to make way for the new.

Day 114 of 2021

Changes are happening here.
We've "unplanted" the bed between the walk and the porch.
We've taken out and saved all the salvageable concrete pieces and bricks.
Stay tuned.

Day 113 of 2021

Yesterday I made soup and crackers.
Today we're having leftovers and I'm using the crackers for tiny open faced BLTs...
with peanut butter, of course.

Day 110 of 2021

Mama Robin knows how to use her wings and sits very still as it starts to snow.

About an hour later she has changed position
but is still making good use of her wings.

Day 109 of 2021

Last year about this time I thought I should document our time at home
 with a photo shoot.
I thought it might be a good idea to revisit the idea one year later.
I might even have to make it an annual thing.

Day 108 of 2021

Mama Robin has three little birds to feed now.
She is busy finding them food and then keeping them warm.
She does not like it when I open the window to get a picture
of her arriving back at the nest.

Day 107 of 2021

It's been over a month since I had to rip out my first attempt at this quilt.
Today I got the first strip sets completed.
They worked out much better this time.

Day 104 of 2021

On one of the few instances that Mama Robin left her nest today,
I ran upstairs to see if I could get a peek and a picture of her eggs.
I knew there were three but wasn't able to get a good shot until today.
If I have calculated things correctly,
hatching should begin somewhere between Sunday and next Wednesday.

Day 103 of 2021

The redbuds in our area are crazy in bloom right now.
This one in particular is not ours but is in our neighborhood. It is so full.
Unfortunately, this means it won't be long before the flowers all fade
and the trees turn totally green.
You can see this one has started the greening process already.
My intention is to be mindful of their beauty each time I see one
over the next few days while they last.

Day 102 of 2021

You must avoid the cracks lest you let the "dark energy" out.

Day 101 of 2021

GB#5 and her family came to visit today.
This is only the second time we have been able to see her.
Oh my, she has changed!

Here is our first meeting.

Day 100 of 2021

AFTER
All we were going to do today was pull up a corner of the carpet in our sunroom
to see what is making the floor bump up.
It turned into an entire cleaning of the room
from the ceiling fan down to the baseboards...
oh, and rearrange all the furniture while we are at it.
BEFORE
I had no idea this had happened in this room.
I'm so glad I'm doing the deep spring cleaning.

Day 98 of 2021

I found this little device in a box with a slide in it.
It needed cleaning from the corroded batteries that were inside,
some realignment of the connections,
new batteries and a bit of finesse to get it working, but once I did,
I found Mom from 1975.

Day 97 of 2021

After tonight's and tomorrow's rain, this tree will be done for the season.
It appears it's barely hanging on this morning.

Day 96 of 2021

I felt like baking today so I did.
My blueberries needed to be used before they went bad so muffins it was.

Day 94 of 2021

Happy Easter.
We were able to get together with these guys,
Big D, R and GB#3, today.
Health issues have kept us from seeing our other close family members
so we are keeping our fingers crossed that a visit can happen soon.

Day 93 of 2021

Easter decorations are a little sparse this year
but I do love my little bunny.

Day 92 of 2021

Mama Robin update:
Today while I was pointing out one of our trees that is starting to bloom
to Fireball from the kitchen window,
he pointed out to me that Mama Robin was sitting on her nest.
I had been getting a little concerned since I had not seen her around
or near the nest since she finished it last Friday.
After she left I went to see if I could spy any eggs from the upstairs window.
I cannot see any yet.
I suppose this means she has not laid them yet
or they are very far forward and out of my line of vision.
Time will tell.

Day 91 of 2021

I've been making bento bags.
They are so fast, fun and useful.
I have one more to go.
