Day 212 of 2021

Because GB#1 was very insistent,
Fireball, GB#3 and I watched The Mitchells vs. the Machines tonight.
We all enjoyed it very much.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Day 210 of 2021

Little E requested a roll case for her crochet hooks
so today I made that happen.
I have covered the top half of her roll with my patchwork one
since I'd like her to be the first one to see what fabric I chose for hers.

Day 208 of 2021

I've had this pattern for a long time.
I've even picked out fabric and zippers a couple times,
but I've never gotten the bag made.
I think I get bogged down trying to make the first bag the perfect bag.
I just need to convince myself that there will be many more bags
so there is no need to overthink and stress over it.
A sew along has just started on Instagram
so I am going to try to keep up and actually get this done.

Day 207 of 2021

The day after a family gathering,
it is not be surprising to find items left behind.

Day 204 of 2021

I've acquired some new supplies for quilting today
as Little E and I went through her quilting stuff that I have been storing.
These things will not be going to her home so their new home will be with me.

Day 203 of 2021

I found a little sewing time today and finished my patchwork patch
for this quilt I purchased a few years ago
that had a large tear and several pieces that needed replacing
 to make it whole again.
The next step is to hand stitch the patch in place.
After that I will flip the quilt to repair the batting,
the backing and redo the hand quilting.

Day 202 of 2021

Earlier this summer we had a new neighbor take up residence
under the eaves on our shed.
The neighborhood continues to grow and will do so until fall.
The structure is fascinating.

Day 201 of 2021

Oh, hey there.
Yeah, I'm just standing around these days.
Look, Ma. No hands.

Day 200 of 2021

Eventually there were six of the large trucks and four of the small ones.
I guess I really didn't want to get to that street anyway.

Day 199 of 2021

When Little E arrived last Thursday
she brought me this handmade gift.
It is the most amazing crocheted blanket she made
in some of Mom's favorite colors.

Day 197 of 2021

GB#1 met GB#5 for the first time today.
It was love at first sight for them both.

Day 196 of 2021

Don't let them fool you. No one in this picture is really asleep.
They were pretending to have nap time.

Day 194 of 2021

The bashed up car finally gets to go to the shop
to see if the damage can be fixed.

Day 193 of 2021

Sometimes old quilts and quilt tops need help.
In these two cases I stopped procrastinating,
drafted the pieces needed, made plastic templates and cut out the fabrics.
Next up - hand sewing.

Day 192 of 2021

Someone is getting quite shaggy and is in dire need of a haircut.
Let's do this.

Day 191 of 2021

GB#4 has been working very hard.
She made it across using only one hand per rung.

Day 189 of 2021

I hope that there is something seriously wrong with this tree
 because if there is not,
I don't know why our neighbor is having this very large, beautiful tree cut down.

Day 188 of 2021

Late night me time.
I'm watching videos on folded book art.
I am fascinated.

Day 187 of 2021

This a jacket we use for dress up.
When the girls tried it on last week,
the fake leather began peeling some pretty nasty, sticky plastic stuff.
It was everywhere.
Today I removed the collar and cuffs and made patterns from them
so I can replace them with a different fabric.
I took lots of pictures of the construction so I can put it back together properly.

Day 186 of 2021

I looked out to the back yard where the girls were playing
and saw what I thought was a chipmunk on a post watching them.
Upon closer inspection I saw it was quite a different observer.

Day 183 of 2021

I got a chance to sit and look at pattern books today.
While I was on the hunt for something else,
I came across this lovely coat pattern.
I am really loving the short version.

Day 182 of 2021

This is the back of the side mirror on one of our cars.
At first I thought the green thing stuck to it
was some leaf or tree debris from one of our recent storms.
Upon closer inspection I could tell it was an insect of some kind.
When I looked even closer,
I could see that the back and front sets of legs were stretched out straight.
The antennae are extremely long.
I've done a Google search and think this is probably a scudderia (katydid) nymph.
