Day 365 of 2022

An old house calls for an old light fixture, in a closet no less.
I think it's so pretty, fancy and appropriate for New Year's Eve.

Day 364 of 2022

Now that the puzzles are done,
I've started something new with my Christmas yarn from GB#3.
Any guesses as to what I am making?

Day 363 of 2022

I started this puzzle late yesterday afternoon
and finished it before I went to bed (1:30am).
I've already dismantled it so I can take the temporary table down.
I love this one because the sidewalk looks like a crazy quilt.
At a fast 500 pieces, I can see myself doing this one again.

Day 362 of 2022

It's wool sock wash day.
I'm really enjoying the warm feet I have when I wear these.
I can't wait to make another pair.

Day 361 of 2022

I finished the succulent puzzle a few days ago.
While I was putting it away I was able to roll the entire puzzle over
so I could get a photo of the back.
Since I was not a part of the original puzzle piece flipping process,
I had no idea these letters were here until late in the construction process.
Once I figured it out, there was no way to un-know this secret.
It made the puzzle completion easier.
It was still not simple, but it was easier.
I'm moving on to a new puzzle tomorrow.
Below is a picture of the entire back.

Day 360 of 2022

This year I did an advent calendar from Olive & June.
I had fun opening all the windows
and can't wait to try out the new colors and products.

Day 359 of 2022

GB#3 gave Fireball and me Christmas gifts that he selected himself.
He knows that Fireball loves donuts and I love yarn.
He is such a thoughtful young man.

Day 357 of 2022

We didn't get as much snow as initially predicted,
but it is certainly as cold as it looks here.
The temperature was about negative 9 degrees Fahrenheit
when this photo was taken.

Day 356 of 2022

And so the temperature drops, the snow begins and the wind howls.

Day 355 of 2022

Christmas is Sunday,
and there is a big snow and extreme cold temperature event
beginning tomorrow.
I thought it would be a good idea to get all the food in the house
that we will need for the next several days.
Everyone else had the same idea.

Day 353 of 2022

Today has been more games and more pie.
The pies have been a big hit.
Well, so have the games.

Day 352 of 2022

We had our family Christmas exchange today.
Other activities included food, games, a puzzle and more food.

Day 351 of 2022

Paper crafting is happening this evening.
I've been selecting the paper, tracing the templates
and cutting out the shapes for the last few days.
Tonight I got to the folding and gluing.
These are to become money holders with envelopes.
I've been making them for the last few years and it's a project I really enjoy.

Day 350 of 2022

Winterlights at Newfields was gorgeous as usual,
but I went for a different than usual picture this time.

Day 349 of 2022

Earlier in the month while Little E was in town,
she crocheted a dinosaur chicken chunk for M.
Tonight M found it under the tree.
She loves it.
I realize this may be confusing for some
but it represents a fun family memory.

Day 348 of 2022

I'm making use of some random things from around the house
and things that never made it back to the attic
for a little more Christmas decoration.

Day 347 of 2022

We've got company coming tomorrow so it's time to break out the phone
and check my "Chalk the Chalk" board on Pinterest.
I found a couple designs to combine and duplicate.
I have neither the time nor energy to think of anything on my own right now.

Day 345 of 2022

Little E left me a note telling me how to do the ribbing on this sweater.
It looks like I'm about halfway there.
It took me about 12 minutes to do one round tonight.
If my calculations are correct, I could finish this re-do in about two hours.
I wonder how many days it will take me to sit down for two hours and knit.

Day 343 of 2022

When Little E was here
she agreed that the sweater she knit for Fireball is a little too long.
We decided upon the desired length and she tore it back
and got it all set up for me to re-knit the ribbing.
The needle we found for this job is slowing me down
as it is grabbing the yarn and not letting it slide nicely.
I found a new needle and knit the next round onto it.
Things are going much smoother and faster now.

Day 342 of 2022

Now that the green socks are done and before I start another pair of socks,
I wanted to knit up a quick cowl.
I have a super cute pattern and some left over yarn from a hat I made for Fireball.
Well, you guessed it. I can't remember where I stashed the yarn.
In the process of looking for it today, I came across a bag.
Inside the bag is a magazine dated Holiday 2004
and all the yarn for a cute cardigan with cables,
that still seems stylish in 2022, that appears in the magazine.
Obviously, I have started swatching for the sweater.
I'll have to make the cowl when the yarn for that project reappears.

Day 341 of 2022

I finished these socks last week and upon the suggestion of GB#3,
I made the toes different than the main sock color
 and different from each other.
I decided to add the opposite color stripe
to make the two socks feel more connected.
I've already worn them and they are drying
from the hand wash and blocking I did today.

Day 340 of 2022

It's time to change the dishes again.
I'm going quite traditional on the colors this year.
Colors used:
scarlet, peony, white, shamrock, meadow, evergreen, slate, black

Day 338 of 2022

We saw this Christmas display today and had to go take a closer look.
This is only about twenty-five percent
of the decorations that covered this double lot property.

Day 336 of 2022

With other things on my mind and to-do list,
I forgot to start my advent calendar yesterday.
I opened two doors today.

Day 335 of 2022

We lost another good one today.
(Great Grandpa H - Fireball's dad)

Day 333 of 2022

Despite what it looks like, this is not a sock post.
This is a post to illustrate my anticipation
of painting some small Christmas trees on this blank canvas.

Day 331 of 2022

This sock is ready for its toe and the other one will be ready soon.
I found this magazine that explains different sock toe variations for different feet
and how to calculate for them.
I have short toes with very little taper
so I am excited to try a different type of finish for my pair of socks.

Day 329 of 2022

Now that we are past Thanksgiving,
it's time to start thinking about decorating for Christmas.
I'm starting with some easy stuff.
First up, change the bedding.

Day 326 of 2022

We are hosting Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday
and are responsible for several dishes.
I was able to complete the grocery list
with the exception of a couple things
that we picked up later at another store.
The trick after filling my cart was finding the best line
and then waiting for my turn at the checkout.

Day 323 of 2022

Sock progress.
Both socks have completed gussets.
I've started the foot on the sock on the right.
This part should go much faster with no decreases to keep track of.

Day 321 of 2022

I found this in the closet where the puzzles reside the other day
while I was straightening things up.
It looks like I bought it on clearance at the book store last year after Halloween.
I forgot that I had it so I forgot to work it.
I remedied this oversight tonight.
I started it too late to finish but surely will tomorrow.

I have also updated yesterday's post to include a link to a picture of Fireball
in the sweater I mentioned in the post.

Day 320 of 2022

I realize now seeing this picture that it's hard to tell what it even is.
Little E is an excellent and speedy knitter.
The one thing she doesn't like much about the process is weaving ends in.
I, on the other hand, don't mind at all.
This piece is a pullover sweater she made for her dad, Fireball,
as a surprise for his birthday.
I had some time today while a service tech did furnace maintenance,
so I have now woven in all the ends
and Fireball can wear the sweater to work this week.

Day 319 of 2022

The last thing on my list for the day
was a sewing project that I've been dying to start.
I finished the rest of the things on the list
so I was able to spend a little time getting this project going.

Day 317 of 2022

When Monday, laundry day,
is booked with appointments away from home,
I do laundry on Sunday night.
I did pretty well.
I got all but one load done,
and I am confident I can get that one done tomorrow.
