Day 151 of 2022

Fireball was not able to go help his dad

 with the funeral arrangements appointment today

 so I went by myself. 

After I picked up a road snack for the drive home at the corner gas station, 

I looked down and saw that Fireball was with me after all.

 

Day 150 of 2022

It was a beautiful, though hot, day

 so Fireball and I went for a neighborhood walk. 

When I saw petals on the sidewalk, 

I looked up and saw that the Tulip Tree was blooming.

We lost a good one today.

My current project is finishing the mending

 and replacing missing pieces of this old quilt with new ones. 

Next will be to flip it to the back, add some new batting 

and apply a large muslin patch. 

Then I will put in the missing hand quilting.

It's time for a change.

I am itching to make myself some clothes

 so I am taking inventory

 and measuring the yardage I have previously purchased

 and set aside for this exact purpose.

 

Day 145 of 2022

I have finally found some suitable rocks to border the maple tree in the front yard. 

This is just the small first load I brought home in my vehicle 

before I realized it was going to take me all day and several trips

 to get it all home. 

So I rented a van, enlisted one son to help me pick up the rest. 

When I got home, I grabbed the other son to help me unload. 

This might become a fun holiday weekend project.

 

Day 144 of 2022

This small planter contains some of the flowers from Mom's garden. 

It is always a nice reminder of her when they bloom in the spring. 

According to the PictureThis app, it is called Wild Geranium.

 

Day 143 of 2022

This space used to house our grocery store. 

It has been vacant for many years. 

I am excited to see that it is being transformed into something else. 

I am curious to see what that something will be.

 

Day 142 of 2022

My scraps are sorted by color, 

placed in their respective bins 

and put on the newly installed second-hand book shelf. 

I still need to cover some of the bins in fabric of the proper color

 as I could not find bins in all the colors I wanted, 

but it is making me happy

 and will make working on scrap projects a lot easier.

M and The Trumpeter came into town late last night, 

attended a wedding tonight and are leaving early in the morning. 

I failed to get a picture of them,

 so this is my only photographic evidence that they were here.

 

Day 140 of 2022

The clematis I bought last year (the purple one) has bloomed. 

It is already twice as tall as it got last year and has so many booms on it.

Fireball and GB#5. 

You'll notice that GB#5 is holding a picture of little M 

with Fireball from many years ago. 

I believe GB#5 was a little bit jealous 

that Grandpa would be with another "baby" 

so she climbed right up into his lap.

It's graduation season and people are getting creative.

GB#2 and GB#4 helped me plant flowers

 in all the pots in my front yard. 

They were such good students and helpers.

I was able to keep this surprise date

 to celebrate our wedding anniversary (tomorrow) 

a secret from Fireball until we walked in the door of the of the venue tonight. 

Recently, I told Fireball the date and time

 and asked him with make the dinner reservation. 

The food was great. The event was wonderful.

More irises. 

These are fluffier and much heavier than the yellow ones. 

They are already falling over. 

I'll have to stake them or tie them up if I don't want them to get trampled.

Oh, and the bike matches the flowers.

Last night only one of these irises was blooming. 

This morning there was a crowd 

and it looks like tomorrow there will be an even bigger crowd.

Today I learned how to install bi-fold closet doors.

This is something I have wanted to know how to do for a while. 

Today was the day.

I had a little incident with the clothes steamer today. 

This blister on my index finger formed immediately. 

This could make certain activities questionable.

Remember this colorful bar from last week? 

It was so good, we decided to go again this week. 

I never saw this giant sign during our last visit, 

but today it was right over our heads.

 

 

Day 129 of 2022

For Mother's Day I picked out this tiny head vase 

with the pretty succulent hair. 

Or is that her hat? 

The answer to the question posed last Monday is three. 

The line in the middle of the picture is an inside corner of a room. 

The gold at the left and the gray/blue on the right converged in this corner. 

The two apparently different colors in the middle are actually the cut in 

of just one new color which was then painted on both walls. 

The light coming from two different directions caused the color to appear different

 but had just come off my brush out of the same can of paint. 

Trick of the eye, light and paint. 

So the answer is 3 but I like piecrust's take on the challenge.

Today was our annual visit to the Decorators' Show House. 

I mostly go for ideas I can use in my own home. 

This year was a good one. 

I thought the color palette was fresh and completely relatable. 

It was too hard to pick a favorite idea so instead 

I will leave you with this thought for the day 

that adorned the wall next to a secret garden terrace.

There are advantages to being two adults when going out. 

One of these is when deciding to eat at a restaurant. 

Even if there is a wait for a table in the dining room, 

there is usually open seating at the bar top in the bar, 

offered first come/first served. 

Tonight we sat at the bar with no wait

 and ate great food

 as I enjoyed the view of the colorful bar selections.

I have not been able to do any quilting in a while

 so I thought I'd revisit something I did a few years ago. 

I like to quilt a little sunshine on some of my quilts. 

This one appears to be a sunrise.
