Day 243/365

I know these photos are grainy and pretty hard to see,
but I wanted to document this event.
There was quite a ruckus on the roof last night just after midnight.
I went to investigate and found this happening.
Look closely and you will see four raccoons.
Oh, and the ring leader makes five.
He succeeded in totally emptying the suet cake feeder.
He ate most of it himself and what fell on the ground was up for grabs.

To get these pictures, I used a flashlight with one hand
and took the pictures with the other
all while standing on a chair at the window.
It was quite tricky and I imagine it was quite comical, though there were no witnesses
except the raccoons who aren't talking.

Day 242/365

The boy loves his books. (GB#3)
As an addition to yesterday's picture,
this photo was technically taken today as it was after midnight.
We definitely wore her out! (GB#2)

Day 239/365

When I finished quilting the house quilt yesterday,
I had extra backing and batting.
I decided to load another piece of fabric and do some practicing.
My plan is to fill the entire space with feathers.
I'm about halfway there.

Day 238/365

GB#1 takes dance at school.
Today was a little recital.
She sure does love her dance class.

Day 237/365

I am headed downtown today.
Surely there will be some waiting time.
(yes, 3 hours worth)
I will bring hexies to sew.
Certainly I can bring my Fiskars blunt tip kids scissors in my sewing kit.
(nope, it's a federal building)
I think I'll doodle a little bit.

Day 234/365

Here's another sneaky peek at progress.
I like the texture thing that is going on here.
My biggest challenge so far is coming up with a different design for each house.

Day 233/365

I've started quilting the "next up" quilt.
This is my favorite block so far.
That should last until I quilt the next one and have a new favorite.

Day 232/365

M decided to try out the new equipment
It was fun but not particularly comfortable.
I think she may want to leave it for the little people.

Day 231/365

It's State Fair time again.
This train runs to and from the fair.
Each year I take pictures of the train at the station near my house.
As I was walking this evening I heard the whistle and hurried over to the station.
My goal was to take pictures when the train stopped.
It didn't.
As the train sped by I was lucky to get one picture that was in focus.

Day 230/365

Let the cutting commence!
This quilt is semi-secret, hence the black and white photo.

Day 229/365

While I washed and dried the fabric for my next quilt,
I worked on a colorful little thing destined for my laundry room.

Day 228/365

We've made some changes and upgrades to the play equipment.
A new bar with rings will serve dual purpose replacing our separate bar and rings.
A swing we already owned has been installed once again.
Each piece has been placed fairly close to the ground to accommodate the older girls.

Day 227/376

It was a fun day at the Indianapolis Museum of Art with Little E and GB#1.
We all enjoyed the Dream Cars and the Cutting-Edge Fashion exhibits.

Day 226/365

I took this picture because I liked the row of doors.
I then realized it looked like you could walk through this doorway to get there,
so I took another picture to show you that it isn't a doorway at all.
It's just a mirror on the wall.
Oh, the tricks the eye can play.

Day 225/365

This wall of cans is an artful way to display the logo of a new restaurant in town.
Again, I see quilty possibilities.

Day 224/365

I took my main sewing machine in for routine maintenance.
I need it in tip-top shape for a retreat in September.
For the next few weeks Little Lady and I will be spending some quality time together.

Day 222/365

This is our visiting cat.
I think he is watching for chipmunks.

Day 221/365

Tonight was family movie night at our house.
We selected Fantastic Mr. Fox
I enjoyed it very much.

Day 220/365

Grandpa (Fireball) and the birthday girl (GB#1) take a walk.

Day 218/365

The hummingbird feeder has been broken all year.
(Thanks, Mr. Raccoon.)
We have missed the hummingbirds.
It occurred to me that I might be able to get it back in action
with a trip to the hardware store.
To replace the broken part I bought a threaded eye bolt, two lock nuts
and a rubber washer.
I added a carabiner I already had to make hanging easier.
It only took a couple days for Little Miss Hummingbird to come visit.
She has been here all day.

Day 213/365

I went to an estate sale down the street today.
This is the detail on a headboard for sale.
While others may see an old bed, I see quilting designs.
