Day 121 of 2020

While working on the mugs for this week,
I discovered I cut this one a little short.
I'll fix it...tomorrow.

Day 120 of 2020

Weekly puzzle progress picture.
It actually looks a lot different now
as I made lots of progress after I took the picture.

Day 119 of 2020

First I'd like to apologize for the blurry photo.
Normally I would find something else to photograph to avoid posting this,
but I felt like the tip was important enough to just go with it.
So here's the story.
These drawers to the vanity have runners
that extend about four inches past the back of the drawer.
This makes it difficult to paint the drawer fronts as they won't stand up.
I thought I would just get them up off the ground a little bit
and Fireball brought out this wooden pallet from the garage.
This gave me the room to stand the drawers up
with the extended runners down between the slats,
but it still wasn't very steady.
One drawer fell over and caught under the slat at this angle.
What a great accident this turned out to be.
They are very steady in this position
and makes it quite easy to do the necessary painting.

Day 118 of 2020

This is a "before" picture.
I thought I should document this so I can compare
once the transformation is complete.
Do you remember the new tile in our bathroom
This is a continuation of that project.
I was having a really hard time finding a vanity
with my preferred configuration of drawers and doors,
in a size that would work, in anything available new or used.
One day while I was looking through the for sale items on Nextdoor,
I happened on this.
It is exactly what I had been looking for,
and since I didn't want the countertop, I got it for a great bargain price.
Someone else's trash from a bathroom renovation
will become the "new" vanity in my renovation.

Day 117 of 2020

Today we had a giant tree fall in the back yard.
It was the one that the Bluejays were building their nest in,
the one whose blooms I always love to photograph.
Luckily, it broke just a few of the top boards of our shade structure
and did not harm us or the house.
Clean up will take us a considerable amount of time.
I took lots of photos but it would be impossible to pick just one
to convey the scope of the scene
so I will post some of them later over on More Curiously.
Instead, I am sharing the blocks I made this week for the Sew Along quilt
that I am making for Little E.

Day 114 of 2020

More masks for family are done and on their way.
The top two are for GB#4.
The middle two are for GB#2.
The bottom two are for CJ and T-bone.

Day 113 of 2020

Here's another puzzle update.
I've completed the seasons across the bottom (on the left)
and the corresponding flower panels, on the right except three pieces.
Also complete are the arches on the top corners of each panel.
I've been using a drafting board for puzzle sorting
due to the lack of room on the table,
but today I made a couple boards covered with quilt batting
that I think will be helpful also.
The perk there will be that I can then use them for block assembly
in quilt making when I am not doing puzzles.
I estimate that I have placed about 1300 pieces so far.

Day 112 of 2020

The redbud is full of color.
This is my favorite time, just before the blooms pop open.
The color is so much darker and deeper now.

Day 111 of 2020

I've baked another small batch by Dessert for Two.
This one is called Chocolate Banana Muffins
Again, I substituted gluten free flour, and I used the cocoa I had on hand.
They will make a great complement to breakfast
although I did try half a muffin this evening
just to make sure I wasn't steering you wrong before I included the link.
Test complete. Click away.

Day 109 of 2020

Hello from our house.
Fireball and I decided to do a Stay-at-Home photo shoot
courtesy of my tripod and the built-in timer.
I did a lot of running back and forth as I could not locate my remote today.

Day 108 of 2020

While prepping more popsicles I came across some unusual strawberries.
The one on the left was clearly supposed to be three.
The one on the right is the size of a small tomato,
and the two average sized strawberries in the middle are for comparison.
Here is the answer to the What am I Making? question from Tuesday.
I made Quick Cinnamon Rolls for Two from Dessert for Two.
I iced them in the morning with a regular glaze
 because I prefer a non-cream cheese icing.
I didn't have any cream cheese anyway that wasn't expired.
I also substituted gluten free flour.
The best thing happened the next morning.
Fireball went downstairs before I did and came back up and said,
"When did you make the cinnamon rolls?"

Day 107 of 2020

Little E commented that she loved this quilt.
I offered to make it for her.
I know I should be spending time finishing a few things,
but I think making this is something I need.

Day 105 of 2020

Since I'm staying home these days, it is not unusual to find me in the kitchen.
So tonight I am doing some late night baking.
What am I making?

Day 103 of 2020

Happy Easter.
I've taken another picture of my Easter themed Village blocks.

Day 99 of 2020

I made some masks today.
I took pictures of them.
I decided not to post them here in favor of a picture of spring blossoms.
I thought maybe you (and I) might need something more uplifting.

Day 97 of 2020

This was the best thing I saw on our walk today.
It made me laugh out loud...
and take a picture.

Day 96 of 2020

The sun did not make an appearance today
and there was no beautiful blue sky.
There was though a pretty orange-y pink sunset
and an abundance of Bradford Pear blossoms in my backyard.

Day 95 of 2020

Here's the first update on my puzzle progress.
I started with the edge which I never do,
but because this puzzle is so large I had to have an idea of where I was going.
I finally finished the border today but first had to put painter's tape on the table
so I could visualize the size.
This 4,000 piece puzzle will be 37 3/4" by 53 1/2".
It takes up the entire table. Most of the pieces are still in the box.

Day 93 of 2020

The sky on our walk today was pretty fabulous.
(The moon is also in this photo. Can you spot it?)
The flowering trees weren't too shabby either.

Day 92 of 2020

It's time to bake those muffins again.
The bananas are definitely ready.
