Day 305 of 2020

Happy Halloween.
I tried to get a picture of the rare Halloween Blue Moon,
but those pictures did not compare to this one.

Day 304 of 2020

The finish line is in sight.
Now I just have to remember to go back and quilt those two triangles I missed...
and the one seed shape I found the next day.

Day 303 of 2020

I quilted all afternoon, fixed and ate dinner,
and came back up after dinner to quilt some more.
I have just run out of bobbin thread
and feel like this is a sign that I should be done for the night.

Thank you for your kind comments on yesterday's post.

Day 302 of 2020

Well, I have finally gotten to the background of this quilt.
I guess it takes taking photos to show you the areas you forgot to quilt
(top, center two triangles - red and blue)
even after you quilted right around them.
I wonder how many more I will find as I work my way down.

Day 301 of 2020

Happy Birthday, Fireball!
Thanks to various groups that send notifications of free birthday goodies,
Fireball and I were able to split just half of this giant
salted, caramel, chocolate apple
we picked up at a local sweet shop.

Day 300 of 2020

Tonight Fireball noticed that there are Ghostbusters in the Little Tikes house.
One or more of the GBs must have decided this was a good idea yesterday.
I'm not sure if they live there
or if they are checking out some paranormal activity.

Day 298 of 2020

Do you remember the pinkish truck that I painted red
Well, I am inspired to paint it again.
Can you guess what color i am going to paint it?
So here is another What is It?
What color am I painting the truck?

Day 297 of 2020

I have just loaded the next to last color of thread,
not counting the gray background thread.
These are the colors I've finished.

Day 296 of 2020

I'm still upstairs quilting.
I'm still watching the tree as it changes.
I'm loving it even more than before.

Day 294 of 2020

I thought, to save you from yet another picture of another color of the quilt,
I would show you what I see out the window when I take a water break.

Day 293 of 2020

Color number two is done.
The triangles will be the same across the quilt
but the filler in the seed shapes will change.
I've moved on to color number three
which is getting stitched on very busy fabrics
making it hard to see the designs.

Day 292 of 2020

I've decided to start with the color portions of this quilt
and go back and do all the gray background at the end.
This quilt will take at least eight thread color changes.
I've finished pink, the first color.

Day 291 of 2020

Fireball and I are celebrating M and her beloved, The Trumpeter,
from afar on their very special day.
We can't wait to celebrate in person in March.

Day 289 of 2020

A five way furniture switch happened today in the house.
This small but tall shelf unit found its way here
and I took the opportunity to put all my charm packs together,
at least all the ones that are not already wrapped up with other fabrics
and an idea in my head.

Day 288 of 2020

Progress is happening slowly.
I find decision making hard these days.

Day 287 of 2020

I just finished reading the first of these three books.
I've read all three.
I just read them in backward order.
I am inspired to make changes in my home
and these books have given me the actual steps to help make that happen.

Day 286 of 2020

Somehow, when I wasn't looking, the redbud tree changed color.

Day 285 of 2020

I am grateful for my friend who was willing to share some new-to-me fabric
 including these sweet 9-patch blocks.
 Don't be fooled though.
I know they may look small in this picture,
but they will get trimmed to eighteen inches.
Once I add sashing and borders, it could measure almost 70" square.

Day 284 of 2020

I was able to get this quilt top loaded and basted today.
I even changed my needle so I am ready to go.
Well, I have to decide on a filler design for the gray areas
because that is where I am going to start.
But wait. Just now as I am typing this and looking at my picture,
I am having another idea.
I guess future updates will let you see what I decide.
At any rate there are quilting designs and thread colors to decide.

Day 283 of 2020

The maple tree in the front yard is getting ready for its big day.

Day 282 of 2020

The praying mantises seem to like it at our house.
This one is just hanging out on one of our porch chairs.
Oh, please ignore the spider web.
I just now saw it.
If I remember, I'll sweep that away tomorrow...
unless I leave it until after Halloween.

Day 281 of 2020

Since I finished the last quilt I have put the borders on one quilt
and cut or organized the pieces for three more quilts.
Now I am switching back to quilting.
The back is loaded and I feel fortunate to have gotten that much done
as I have done something to my own back and can't really move very well.
Reaching is one of the more painful moves I can make.
I'm hoping that Advil and rest will take care of this fast.
I am eager to start on this next quilt.

Day 279 of 2020

I finished cutting this quilt with the exception of the borders.
Sometimes the center of a quilt top will look different
from what your best guess at what it will look like once it is put together.
I almost always use an audition process for borders.

Day 277 of 2020

DIL, R, requested help with a build for her upcoming birthday.
Today she learned how to use the compound miter saw.
It was a good day.
Result:  Four finished benches for around the fire pit at her home.

Day 275 of 2020

100% full moon.
October Harvest Moon.
Did you know that there will be another full moon this month on the 31st?
