Day 90 of 2023

These socks were taking forever to dry on a towel
so I moved them for the last 20% of the drying process.
I do not recommend this method for sopping wet socks.
I wish I had more of these little pink clips
so they could hang individually.

Day 87 of 2023

Fireball brought home some fresh eggs from a coworker.
I can't wait to try them.

Day 86 of 2023

Before and after of the upstairs room at the Old House.
This room started with some pretty nasty carpet,
lots of furniture, books and a whole lot of other stuff
that was in the attic space through the little door on the left.
It is quite deceiving as once you duck to get through the doorway,
there is standing room for more than one person, and that space was full.
This morning the room looked like the top picture
thanks to our work day on Saturday
moving all the remaining heavy furniture downstairs.
This afternoon in just about two hours
the carpet installers transformed the room.

Day 85 of 2023

My hat is slow going.
Tomorrow I have a hurry up and wait kind of day
so I will be bringing this project along to try to make some progress.
I also got the buttonholes done on my pink sweater
so I will also be bringing buttons to sew on.

Day 84 of 2023

She is truly an angel, giving us so much help working on the Old House.
Today she helped us with the literal heavy lifting.

Day 83 of 2023

Buttons.
I have a busy few days coming up
so they may not make it onto the sweater until next week sometime.

Day 82 of 2023

In this sea of buttons there are some really special ones.
What's not in this collection is the right number of buttons
in the right color and size that I need for the sweater I made today.

Day 81 of 2023

Not my work.
This was part of my dinner at a restaurant tonight
and now I feel obligated to up my avocado presentation game.
I'll work on it.

Day 80 of 2023

A body builder, a pipe and a Buddha.
We continue to find more treasures at the Old House.

Day 79 of 2023

I've cut out another Marlo Sweater, in a pale pink sweater knit this time.
I will be making the short version again but will be adding pockets
as I am always trying to find them on my green Marlo
 which does not have pockets.
I'm hoping it looks okay.

Day 78 of 2023

This ticket stub was found today in a collection of mementos at the Old House.
Fireball said that his family did go see Holiday on Ice
at this venue at least a couple times.
On this date, Fireball would have been 6 years old.
Upon suggestion, I may go to the library to see if I can find evidence
to confirm what event required this ticket.
I am so curious now.

Day 75 of 2023

I made the change of dishes just in time.
(Shamrock, Meadow, Evergreen, Lemongrass, Sage, White, Marigold, Daffodil)

Day 74 of 2023

I know this may not look exciting to you,
but I can assure you that this is very exciting to Fireball and me.
It has been quite some time since we have been able to leave from
or return to our neighborhood
without hitting one of these spots that used to be potholes
that could rattle your teeth.

Day 72 of 2023

I found this piece of fabric a couple days ago at an antique store.
It's that heavy fabric with the weird texture that was once widely used for curtains.
I think it may work nicely for a small everyday backpack.

Day 71 of 2023

Good morning.
I hope you have a beautiful Sunday.
( not a black and white photo. see slide.)

Day 70 of 2023

The tile in the bathroom at the Old House has been covered for so long,
it's going to take a few rounds of cleaning.
This is after the first round which is already a huge improvement.
For scale, the yellow squares measure about one and a half inches.

Day 69 of 2023

I sewed some today.
All the things I put together had to be taken back apart.
I also cut the next piece as indicated by the pattern
and then realized I had cut the wrong piece.
I have no more of the canvas or lining fabrics.
Now I will have to come up with a solution to fix my error.
After my "unsewing" I thought I'd read a little in the book I can't seem to finish.
Unfortunately, my library doesn't have this one in audiobook format
and tonight I am really struggling to keep my eyes open and my brain engaged.

Day 68 of 2023

Great Grandpa H liked to sew. This was his machine.
While I'd love to keep it, I don't have room for another machine.
I'd love to see it go to someone who needs it
or an organization that could use it.
Suggestions welcome.
Feel free to comment or email me directly so I can reply to you.

Day 66 of 2023

The last of the carpet has left the Old House.
I ran out of time to take all the tiny tacks out today.
That will have to wait until next time.

Day 65 of 2023

The guest bathroom is officially done.
There are a few things I intend to do once the weather is consistently warmer,
but for now, it's done.

Day 64 of 2023

Fireball and I took a break from working on the Old House today
to take a road trip to pick up some items that were waiting for us.
In this little town there are lots of shops.
I had forgotten about this one until today.
Each area in this store had a different feel
based on theme, color or category of items for sale.
This was one of the more overwhelming, yet impressive displays.

Day 62 of 2023

The reason I went to the quilt show yesterday
is because the weather forecast called for rain
and possible severe storms all day today.
I did have one errand I still had to run though.
At least my feet stayed dry.

Day 61 of 2023

I attended the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show today
and was impressed with lots of the quilts this year.
I am always especially interested
in seeing the quilting designs that have been used,
and I thought this one was exceptionally good.
Below is the card that was attached to the quilt
 for quilt and maker information.

Day 60 of 2023

I traveled up to the Old House today
to remove the carpet, pad, tack strips and staples
to reveal the beautiful floor in the last room on the main level.
