Day 211 of 2023

We had some great help today from a couple of garden enthusiasts.
They helped with removing sod for a new garden bed,
placing that sod in a different area of the yard that needed it,
watering new plantings,
deciding best placement for a new plant,
and keeping us all hydrated with ice and water.
We couldn't have done it without them.

Day 208 of 2023

I've posted some bad parking before, but this one is especially bad.
I think it's clear that he knew exactly where he was parking his truck
and feels entitled to take up two spaces.

Day 206 of 2023

After lunch downtown with Fireball,
I had time to go to Crimson Tate before heading home.
I have a soft spot for new Halloween fabric lines.

Day 205 of 2023

The sky was loud with booming, rolling thunder.
We did not receive any rain.
I was lucky enough, however,
to witness this incredible sky over my backyard.

Day 204 of 2023

The wood on the left was cut and stacked yesterday
from a limb that fell a couple days ago.
The wood on the right was cut a very long time ago
in another part of the yard and got stacked today.
This was my weekend.

Day 203 of 2023

These plants are growing voluntarily in a pot on my deck.
I have gotten conflicting information when I looked them up
so I am eager to see what kind of flowers these buds will produce.

Day 201 of 2023

I got around to weaving in the ends on the sweater Little E made
for me in May while she was here.
I've left some long-ish tails so they don't come undone
and poke through to the front.
I wanted to get it blocked today,
but I have an appointment tomorrow and my nails needed a refresh.
A manicure on me lasts about one to two days
so it would be a big mistake
to stick them into a sink full of water and sweater
when I need them to last until at least tomorrow.
By the way, I can't wait to wear it!

Day 200 of 2023

It's been on my list for a while,
and I finally got the dishes changed.
I plan to leave these out until I switch them for fall colors.

Colors used: turquoise, lapis, lemongrass, scarlet, daffodil,
poppy, and possibly one more orange

Day 199 of 2023

This hat had a large hole in the front
so I decided to try my hand at some visible mending.
I forgot to take a before picture
but there are plenty more spots that need mending
so I will try to remember to take both the before and after pictures
 when I fix them.
I think it needs a variety of colors
so I'll be getting more of this particular yarn.

Day 198 of 2023

I've been rearranging furniture all day.
I used to do this all the time when this house was new to us.
Now it only happens once in a while.

Day 197 of 2023

One of the last things to do at the Old House
is to take care the last few things in the garage.
One day a while back
Great Grandpa H noticed this cart on the side of the road.
After it was still there a couple days later,
he assumed no one wanted it so, at 92 years old,
he hoisted it up into the trunk of his car
 and brought it home.
I'm not sure what that's all about but I'm also not 92.
Today we returned it to the store to which it belongs.

Day 196 of 2023

Now that I will be home more with the Old House project coming to a close,
do I even bother to take the little white houses
and Christmas decor off the mantel?
I think maybe.
I would like to think that I could get some pumpkins up this fall.
Time will tell.

Day 195 of 2023

The last day of theater camp for GB#3 involved a performance
for parents and other invited guests.
This year his group came down the aisle during one number.
Luckily, he alerted his parents of his exact future location.
We picked seats accordingly.

Day 194 of 2023

I'm working on a quick alteration today
for which I happen to have the exact color of thread that I need.

Day 193 of 2023

Well, this is going well.
I really like the slipped stitch heel.
This color is working out much better than the previous one.
I'll show you the color when I have some good light
and have made more progress.

Day 192 of 2023

Tiny rabbit in the yard.
Sorry for the blur. He was moving fast.

Day 191 of 2023

This was going to happen today, but it didn't.
Maybe tomorrow.

Day 189 of 2023

It's daylight and I am definitely going to switch colors
for the heels and toes of this pair of socks.
I would love any of these in those spots
so I asked M to narrow it down to three for me.
She did and then I asked Fireball which he would pick from the three.
I have started the new color and will post a  picture
when I am further along with it.
Feel free to take guesses.

Day 188 of 2023

I made great progress on my socks today,
but this is my second start on the heel flap.
The first attempt started out well,
but I found that I had started it a couple sections early and had to begin again.
On the second try, I found that I had dropped two stitches a few rows back
and had to tear back again.
It is impossible to know if I have it set up correctly
considering the very dark yarn, the low light
and the vision problems I have with my left eye.
I wish this picture would more accurately convey how dark it feels.
I'm seriously thinking about tearing the entire heel out
and starting over again with a lighter, bright color...tomorrow.
Stay tuned.

Day 187 of 2023

On a very busy and tiring day when dinner is at nearly ten at night,
and oatmeal with blueberries and strawberries is what sounds good,
that's what you have.

Day 186 of 2023

I was recently gifted with a second rubik's cube.
I have found that my shashibo box in this configuration
 will hold them both.
I bought the book on the bottom in Bermuda in April.
It's a book of of stories that I have not yet begun.
Has anyone read it?

Day 185 of 2023

I made up some cheese and crackers to tide us over until dinner.

Monday, July 3, 2023

Day 184 of 2023

Cool fresh fruit seemed like a good thing to prepare
as part of tomorrow's holiday meal.

Sunday, July 2, 2023

Day 183 of 2023

We went on a fun outing today during which
I totally forgot to take any pictures,
but I did also work on my socks
and have made significant progress in the last two days.
They are so close to even.

Day 182 of 2023

Great Grandpa H had some ingenious solutions to common problems.
Why not bolt a putty knife to the end of a broom length handle?
