Day 304 of 2023

Hi, it's me. Happy Halloween. 

Here are some things to note in the photo: 

1. I brought the orange cowl I was working on on the plane 

and finished the bind off just as we landed. 

It was the best accessory I brought along

 as the mornings and evenings were quite cool

 and it got worn almost every day. 

2. It is extremely cold here today for the date. 

It even snowed today. 

Before trick or treating with the girls, 

I ran back in the house to grab something to keep my ears warm 

and found this hat which I made years and years ago but have never worn. 

It was the perfect hat for tonight. 

3. I set up a hair appointment with M's hairdresser in Seattle 

before we flew there. 

Here is my new haircut which I am still figuring out

 as it is 3-4 inches shorter. 

This is normal for my hair. It just takes time.

4. I can't remember if I ever showed you my new glasses. 

Here they are.

 

Day 303 of 2023

This new-to-me knit sweater has a couple really bad snags. 

My thought is to redistribute the snagged yarn 

back into the original stitches 

and then do a gentle hand wash and flat dry. 

I'm hoping the wash will serve as a wet blocking

 and even out the stitches.

It's a couple days before Halloween.

Here's one last look at the maple in the front yard from my studio. 

It's really turning brown now

 and the rain, wind, cooler daily temperatures 

and overnight freezes that are coming in the next few days 

 will surely take the rest of the leaves down.

I'm getting back into my routine but took a break

 to look for this book that I was reminded that I have. 

There are some great patterns I've marked for future projects.

The halftime show at the game today featured

 the Purdue University marching band. 

This photo is for my brother who attended the school. 

I'm back at my computer so I will be filling in the blanks this week.

Although we had been to and around the Space Needle

 on previous trips to Seattle, 

we had never gone up to the top until today. 

This shot is from the elevator on the way down 

as the city lights were just becoming bright enough

to really be seen.

It's been another busy day in the best way possible. 

We started with M's favorite coffee shop and a tour of her workplace. 

From there Fireball and I took the bus to SAM (Seattle Art Museum) 

which had some amazing exhibits. 

Today's museum visit was the fourth (and last) of this trip

 so I am dubbing this our Seattle Museum Tour - 2023.

A short walk from SAM took us to the Amazon Spheres 

where we met The Trumpeter and a friend of his who gave us a tour.

Today Fireball and I saw a lot of things. 

One of the most interesting places we went today

 was the National Nordic Museum. 

There were so many interesting things inside, 

I couldn't decide which picture to post here

 so I decided to show you this giant troll

 who lives just outside the museum. 

His name is Frankie Feetsplinters 

and you can read more about him and other trolls here.

Day 290 of 2023

 

The museum we wanted to go to was not open today 

so we climbed the 107 steps

 to the top of an old observation tower instead. 

We ate dinner at separate restaurants

 to give M and The Trumpeter

 a chance to celebrate their anniversary alone. 

We met up again for some molten cakes for dessert.

Day 289 of 2023

In case you haven't figured out where we are, we're back in Seattle. 

Today Fireball and I were joined by M and The Trumpeter 

at MoPOP (Museum of Pop Culture) in Seattle. 

In particular we wanted to see the exhibit of Hidden Worlds, 

the films of Laika. 

This box is from the film Kubo and the Two Strings. 

The details of the clothing, figures, sets and props were amazing. 

After we left here, we went to the Seattle Pinball Museum. 

Fun times there too.

At the locks, we watched the boats come through. 

We got a look from this curious fellow.

This day we visited my brother and his wife.

Fireball and I are off on another adventure. 

Due to the direction we were flying, this sunset lasted two hours.

I almost forgot to get this laundry load from the dryer. 

This tiny load wouldn't dry as there wasn't enough to make it fluff. 

I added some towels to help 

but then promptly forgot about them. 

They are dry now.

I've joined the yarn I bought on my errand the other day

 with a yarn I already had here at home 

and worked out a swatch. 

I cast on late last night 

and now I'm about halfway done with this project. 

I'm hoping to finish this by Friday afternoon.

I've spruced up the mantle a little bit. 

I bought the cute garland a while ago

 and it seems like the right time to put it out.

When we arrived home from today's game, 

I was greeted with this adorable drawing on my chalkboard. 

I commented on the drawing

 so the artist can see it the next time she visits.

We celebrated a belated birthday for GB#5 with donuts.

The sky looks like a painting tonight.

It was quite rainy and drippy all day. 

According to The Weather Channel app on my phone, 

we will have fall temperatures for at least the next two weeks. 

Some of those days will also be rainy. 

Perfect. I enjoy an excuse to stay at home.

As I was searching this cookbook for an idea for dinner tomorrow, 

I came across this picture and it reminded me

 that I have been thinking about BLTs lately, 

and although that is not what is pictured here, 

I think I can make it work.
