Annoying, yes. Yet in my experience you have probably not purchased this container. The pick-up service retains ownership; you just "borrow" them as long as you use their service. If they destroy them, that is on them not you. But for your protection, you might want to register a complaint (or two). (Photographic evidence won't be of much use since it can be staged, unless you can actually video the operator at his drop and dash routine. (My two cents.)
