Day 67 of 2025

It's time to change the clocks, lose an hour
and get ready for unusually late summer sunsets.

Day 65 of 2025

Northern Flicker came to the feeder.
I got some shots of his face but this was the best one
that showed the red spot on the back of his head.
Maybe he'll come back and I'll try again.

Day 64 of 2025

This black bag-type bin has been holding magazines
and a couple books for many years.
I figured it was time to sort through
and see what I really wanted to keep
 and what could actually go.
I picked up the bag and to my surprise
saw magazines stacking up on the floor.
It took me a moment to realize
they were falling out of the bottom
 which had totally fallen apart.
I moved the mess to the hall and sorted it there.
Most of the magazines were dated 2004 and 2005.
Most found its way to the recycling bin or trash,
including the destroyed bag.

Day 63 of 2025

I forgot I bought strawberries several days ago.
Luckily, they were still good today when I checked them.
They became dessert.

Day 62 of 2025

My treasures in the china cabinet.
I've probably taken this same photo before
but not with the reflection of the snowflakes and fairy lights.

Day 61 of 2025

I got Fireball an advent calendar for Christmas last year.
We are just now figuring out the proper order for display.

Day 60 of 2025

It's very windy and cold today.
I know it's only the first of March, but,
I kind of wish it was the end of March.
I'm ready for warmer (not hot) days.

Day 56 of 2025

It's 60º today and the chipmunk has come out
to bask in the sunshine.
I wanted more of his face,
but he is right outside my door so when I move he runs.

Day 55 of 2025

Old toys.
We have lots more of these.
They  are about 2 1/2" tall.
They each came with their own sleeping bag.
Do you know what they are? Did you have any?
What is it?

Day 53 of 2025

I just noticed that my peace lily is about to get a second bloom.

Day 52 of 2025

Since this is a shorty sock, I am already on the heel flap.
The sun has washed out the color a little
but I like how it shows what a sweet color it really is.

Day 51 of 2025

Last month I wanted to follow along with a QAL (quilt along)
because I already had the pattern and a fabric pull done.
I had set it aside when I couldn't participate the first time around.
Recently I rearranged where and how my WIPs (works in progress) are stored.
The project in question got moved.
Most of these WIPs got put in the Big Room but I couldn't find it there.
Today I spent some time looking again as I have been every couple days
and there was a neat stack of containers sitting right there on a chair
in my studio which I had overlooked.
In the second one from the bottom is my "lost" project.
The QAL is over now but maybe this will become a priority
and thus become an early finish for the next time this holiday rolls around.

Day 50 of 2025

I have an idea for a new quilt.
I made a test block to try it out.
It came out to the correct size- always a good sign.
I plan to use scraps and stash fabrics so each block will be an adventure.
It will be fun to see how this develops.

Day 49 of 2025

After I made the Valentine coasters for Fireball,
I planned to give him a few Jack-o-Lantern coasters for Halloween.
I did a very nice fabric pull and got the first face completed
but the finished coaster never happened and the other faces didn't either.
Today the one and only coaster made it to the finish line
and sits on our coffee table.

Day 48 of 2025

I have declared in the last couple days that I am not leaving my house
for anything for the next week due to the ridiculous temperatures.
I changed my tune tonight when I fell victim to a pizza craving.
I put on more layers of clothing and headed out.
It turned out well,
but now I really am staying in the house until Sunday.

Sunday, February 16, 2025

Day 47 of 2025

I finished making the two pillowcases today
from the panels that were included in the 2023 and 2024
Stitch Supply Co advent calendar boxes.
You could say I am very late in getting these made up,
but what if I am just very early?

Day 46 of 2025

Small town + empty storefront = canvas for artist's winter scene.

Friday, February 14, 2025

Day 45 of 2025

I know it's not a very pretty picture,
but these parmesan potatoes were amazing.
There are plenty left over for the weekend and next week lunches.

Day 43 of 2025

I tore out the bobbles I had started and did them over.
I finished the whole round of them and am much happier now.
Tomorrow I will do the other sock before I forget how to do bobbles.
I'd like to thank my tape dispenser for the assist in making this photo work.

Day 42 of 2025

I am working on looking through my bins of WIPs. (Works in Progress)
Some projects will not be finished and are getting dismantled.
The fabrics I still like will get put back on the fabric shelves.
Things I do not intend to keep are headed for a designated donation spot.
This is a set of blocks that I do intend to finish.
At the time I put it away I had decided to split the blocks up
and make two smaller quilts.
The original pattern called for small borders around each block
 before sewing them together.
The blocks on the left were going to be my "yellow" quilt
and the blocks on the right were going to be my "pink/aqua" quilt.
I've decided to put them back into just one quilt.
I did a bunch of rearranging today
and have an idea where I am headed with this one
but probably won't show you until the top is sewn together.

Day 41 of 2025

I usually wash all my fabrics before I start a quilting project.
I have had these squares and the pattern
selected for this project for a long time.
Because these squares are part of a charm pack (fabrics precut to 5"),
I will not be able to prewash
as the 5" dimension may shrink and the edges may fray.
So while I was ironing some household items from the laundry today,
I decided this would make a great small next project
to get me sewing quilt type items again
(This is a table runner)
and pressing seemed like the proper prep
for fabrics that will not be washed.

Day 40 of 2025

Since my last knit finish I have knit a sample hat
that was meant to fit a large adult head.
It turns out my gauge was way too tight and it fits GB#5.
I'm not sure how I am going to get my gauge close enough
to make the hats I need
since I am already using a very large needle.
While I ponder that question
I have started what I hope will be a pair of quick socks.
These have bobbles on the top.
I've never made bobbles with this method before
and mine aren't looking very consistent,
but I will carry on and see what happens.

Day 38 of 2025

The backyard was a hive of activity today.
There were lots of birds.
The squirrels were exceptionally busy
and I saw my first chipmunk in a while.

Wednesday, February 5, 2025

Day 36 of 2025

Both socks are done.
All ends are woven in and I have done a soak with a wool wash.
The color bled a little but after several rinses the bleeding stopped.
The pair is currently drying on sock blockers.
I can report that I can already tell that they are so soft.
I can't wait to try them on post blocking.

Day 35 of 2025

Tonight's amazing sky.

Also, this What is it? was indeed one of the charts generated
when photos of my retina are taken at each visit to the retina specialist.
The red/orange spots are not a good sign.
Treatment was necessary.
You're on a roll, Joanne.

Day 34 of 2025

I'm taking the slow start approach to changing the colors
 for the upcoming holiday.

Sunday, February 2, 2025

Day 33 of 2025

We're finding more things in the garage that we had forgotten about.
It's kind of funny that Strawberry  Shortcake
looks a bit annoyed here
because of the lock of hair hanging on her forehead
looking like an angry eyebrow.

Day 32 of 2025

First sock done except the kitchener stitch finish
and weaving in ends.
The second sock isn't far behind.
It only needs the small white stripe, the toe
and the same finishing touches.
As you can see, I chose the purple for the heel and toe accent color.

I asked you what color you thought I had picked
for the accent color in this post
Sorry, Scott, I did pick the purple
and didn't have too much trouble with its darkness.

Day 30 of 2025

Fit try on.
It looks like another blue stripe
should get me to the toe decreases.

Day 29 of 2025

I have a hair appointment on Monday.
It's been a really long time since that happened last.
I am hoping for the best.
I'm hoping to at least get rid of the very thin ends.

Tuesday, January 28, 2025

Day 28 of 2025

I've added another napkin to my color file.
I especially like the three shades of red.

Monday, January 27, 2025

Day 27 of 2025

It is very hard to take a nice clear picture of a computer screen.
This is the best I could do.
The big question is do you know what this is?
So let's play What is it?

Sunday, January 26, 2025

Day 26 of 2025

I'm making good progress on my current pair of socks.
I have more blue stripes to work as I finish the feet,
but I have a limited amount of the blue yarn in my bag.
To be fair, I know I have more in my yarn stash,
but I'd like to only use what is shown here.
I have a plan to stretch this to make it work,
but it will still be pretty iffy.
I suspect I will be playing the tricky game of Yarn Chicken.

You are right, Joanne.
The answer to Where am I?
is the car wash.

Day 25 of 2025

Here's my new makeshift set up for knitting in the evenings.
Since I don't have a table near enough to set the lamp on,
I am using my phone stand that I use for video calls
to hold up my little lamp by draping its neck
over the arm of the phone holder.
It puts a nice bright light in just the right place
to allow me to enjoy some knitting without major eye strain.

Day 24 of 2025

I last posted about this sock in July 2023.
I have recently picked it back up again.
It's going well and I am very motivated to get this pair done soon.
Black and white photo is warranted because the last time we saw this sock
I had not revealed the color of the heel,
but the gusset decreases are done and I wanted to share.
Color photos will come soon.

Day 23 of 2025

A long time ago I took a photography class for film cameras.
In class we made these reference cards to carry in our camera bags.
I know with all the light meters available to us on our phones,
 it's not really needed anymore,
but I thought M might find it interesting
since she has taken up film photography.

Day 22 of 2025

This blue tarp is covering some boards
we intend to use for an outdoor project.
This squirrel has decided to rip it apart with his teeth and claws.
He ran off with his find and came back for more.
I suspect he is using it for some extra insulation
on these very cold days and nights.

Day 21 of 2025

I'm finally taking Christmas down
but some things might just stay up the rest of winter.

Day 20 of 2025

The sweater is being photographed today.
I love these little buttons so I had to get a close up.
Below is a full picture.
I'll get it packaged up this week to send off as a gift.
