Day 181 of 2017

I finished my houses last night but had to wait until today's light to get a picture.
I have placed them with some of the other blocks from the
Urbanologie Quilt Along by Sew Kind of Wonderful.
I think this is my favorite so far.

Day 180 of 2017

I finally got back to the big machine, with its new foot.
I finished the quilting on this quilt and took it off the frame.
My new favorite stripe is the green one at the top.
I used the QCR Curvit ruler set for the curved diamonds and curved crosshatching.
It was fun and I am so happy with the result.
Now to select a binding fabric.

Day 179 of 2017

Happy mail arrived today.
This new foot for my longarm machine has a new profile
which should take out some of the guesswork and frustration
which occurs with the current foot when I do ruler work.
I am excited to install it and give it a try.

Day 178 of 2017

One of my quilty friends has finished her Gypsy Wife quilt.
I love her color choices.
Please ignore the blur.  I was having issues.

Day 177 of 2017

The light bulb in a living room lamp seemed to be burned out.
As I began to remove it from the socket,
it made loud popping noises and shot out blue sparks or flames.
It was hard to tell as it happened so fast.
I twisted it again and got the bulb out without further incident.
The base of the bulb was entirely black, was cracked, had a hole in it, and smelled terrible.
Parts of it were melted.
I was going to replace the bulb with a new one,
but the socket is also entirely black, has little black bits in it, and smells terrible.
The lamp is now unplugged.
I will attempt to clean it out tomorrow and see if it is salvageable.

Day 175 of 2017

It seems there is a theme going here.
Here is another group photo.
This time it is this group of guys who attended college together.
It's good to see them still reuniting year after year.

Day 174 of 2017

One of the perks of staying over with Mom is looking through old photo albums.
That's me sitting on my sister's lap.

so we are having a sleepover at her house tonight.

Day 172 of 2017

Today as we enjoyed our last breakfast of our lake house quilting getaway,
we were graced by the presence of this beautiful Baltimore Oriole.
We don't see these at our house.
This was quite a treat.

These last three are a bit blurry, as he did not sit still for long,
but I was fascinated how he used and contorted his tail for stability
as he picked at his food source on the tree trunk.

Day 167 of 2017

My last class was Quilt as You Go on the Longarm.
This is such a fun technique.
Lots of orphan blocks have found homes in this practice piece.

Day 165 of 2017

Longarm quilting in a class can be a bit challenging.
The machine is different than the one I own.
The tension wasn't quite right.
It's a little nerve wracking to quilt with people watching,
BUT the teacher, Tia Curtis, was fabulous.
I loved it all,
but my favorite part was learning how to insert a little grid quilting,
or better yet, some double line grid quilting
into small areas of a quilting design.

A little chipmunk takes a break on the deck after quite a chirping session.

Day 161 of 2017

I got my t-shirt remake done after midnight
so I took today's picture before I went to bed.
Consider this my "after" picture.
I am pretty happy with the result.

Day 160 of 2017

I think it's time for another t-shirt remake.
Consider this the "before" picture.

Day 159 of 2017

M and I went downtown for the Strawberry Festival today.
Usually I take a picture of the State House from the monument (pictured).
Today we walked a few blocks,
and I took a picture of the monument from the the State House.

I have cut into my Wonderland canvas.

Day 156 of 2017

Happy Birthday to GB#3!
I hope he enjoys being a little detective in his new cape and hat,
with his magnifying glass and detective books.

Day 155 of 2017

You know it's time to take a break from the birthday project
when you start making cutting mistakes.
Sewing will resume tomorrow.
