Day 302 of 2019

I made it into the studio today.
I love these fabric combinations.
I do not love the way the close up photography
shows off my crooked stitching.

Day 301 of 2019

I am packing and intend to have no checked bags.
This is hard for me as I'm not sure I've ever done this before.
I can't tell you how many things have been in the bag
and then back out of the bag.
It doesn't help that the weather forecast
calls for a twenty-eight degree drop in temperature
from my first day to my second day,
and there is going to be some rain thrown in just for good measure.
I am packing lighter versions of everything and plan to layer, layer, layer.
Rolling clothing seems to be working well.
I have a running list of last minute things to not forget,
like the portable phone charger.
I always remind myself though that most everything forgotten
can be purchased once I get to my destination.

Day 300 of 2019

Today was another game day.
We arrived downtown early and decided to kill some time window shopping.
I was inspired by this beautiful fall color palette.
I really didn't want to leave the store
so I took a picture I can look at whenever I need a boost.

(Also, Happy Birthday, Fireball!)

Day 299 of 2019

Another day, another Halloween event.
Daughter-in-law, R, decided to get into the act.

Day 297 of 2019

What a difference a week makes.
Fall has definitely arrived.

Day 295 of 2019

My sister came to visit today and brought along a recent buy.
This yo-yo quilt is so big at 76 x 90+ that I couldn't get it all in the shot.
It is even prettier in the photo than up close.
It lets you figuratively step back and appreciate the subtle color changes.

Day 294 of 2019

Here's a progress shot of both the quilt and the sock.
I have begun binding the small quilt and have three sides to go.
I am working on the leg of sock number one and it seems to be taking forever.
I have at least two more inches to go before I can begin the ribbing...
and then start sock number two.

Day 293 of 2019

I've decided to go with an extra wide shot this time.

Game was a win, in case you weren't sure.

Day 291 of 2019

GB#2 and GB#4 are having a hard time settling down to go to sleep.

Day 290 of 2019

I changed the dishes to some pretty fall colors to coordinate with another rug.
Then I got a little carried away
and organized the remaining dishes in the cabinet by color.
I am hoping this will be helpful for future seasonal dish changes.
Besides, I think it's pretty this way.

Day 289 of 2019

I had to go out to do some errands today.
This guy was parked next to me.
I'm kind of glad it wasn't dark out or I might have been just a little freaked out.

Day 288 of 2019

Our power went out just about an hour ago.
The power company estimates power will be back on after one o'clock in the morning.
Luckily we still have a few light sources from charged devices
and our internet service is evidently working on backup battery.

Day 287 of 2019

This one is for all you quilters out there.
You know there is the big debate about washing
or not washing fabric before putting it into a quilt.
As you can tell by this photo, I am a washer.
The next question then is how do you prepare your fabric before you wash it?
Years ago I heard that if you cut the corners off before you wash,
the result would be no raveling or at least less raveling
and a way to tell the washed from the unwashed fabric.
As you can see from the photo, it still ravels.
I have done this for years.
Today I decided to try a method that I had heard of but never tried.
This method calls for serging the cut ends of the fabric to be washed.
To my great surprise, the result was fabulous.
Not only did I not get the raveling,
but I also don't have all the tiny triangle fabric bits
from the snipping of the corners.
I'll definitely be trying this again
to see if it is a better way for all situations.

Day 286 of 2019

At the quilt show yesterday I won the silent auction on two quilt tops.
Here is a peek at the fun fabrics contained in one of them.

Day 284 of 2019

The last day of fall break was a lazy, rainy day,
but GB#3 and I did color and cut out some pretty cool masks.

Day 282 of 2019

GB#3 chasing bubbles in the afternoon glow.
I'm trying to wear him out for his mom and dad.

Day 281 of 2019

I'm clearly not an artist,
but I was way more interested in today's craft project than GB#3.
Also, it is so odd to see my face in mostly symmetrical form.

Day 280 of 2019

This week is Fall Break for GB#3,
so I get to spend some extra time with him.
Today we took a leaf gathering walk to prepare for
some very fall-like crafts later in the week.

Day 279 of 2019

R, Big D and GB#3.
(GB#3 trying out all his different faces in the photos today)
Harvest at Newfields.
Great way to end a great weekend.

Day 278 of 2019

Obviously I'm at the theater,
but does anyone know what I am seeing?

Day 277 of 2019

This is me with GB#1 at the beach.
GB#1 made it for me for my birthday last month
and sent it with Little E to give me in Seattle last week.
It was such an unexpected surprise.

Day 276 of 2019

It's finally feeling a bit like fall.
The sun is setting earlier,
and a cold front has moved through this afternoon
bringing us some welcomed cooler air.

Day 275 of 2019

My airplane knitting is going well.
It wasn't ready for the first flight so I did the cast-on
and the first couple rows before the flight home.
This was done on the return flight while listening to a book
and would be further along had I not been so sleepy.
Oh, and I have tried it on and it is fitting well too.
Swatching.
Always a good idea.
