Day 60 of 2020

When someone is going to a show
which is being performed on the campus of a local university,
and that university is also hosting a sold-out basketball game at the same time,
someone might have to park in the residential area off campus
and walk half a mile to the venue
because the parking garage is full.

Day 58 of 2020

The fabric baskets I mentioned a couple weeks ago are finished.
Both were supposed to be lined with coral
but while trying to be efficient by cutting the fabric for both at the same time,
I cut the fabric wrong and ended up only getting one lining out of the fabric.
My solution was to find something else from my stash to complete the second basket.

Finished size:  approximately 10"W x 7"H x 4 1/2"D

Day 56 of 2020

Our Valentine block exchange was really fun
and we all came away with a lovely selection of blocks to finish as we wish.
One more block will be coming soon.
Can you guess which one is mine?

It's the one at the bottom right.

Day 55 of 2020

I spent all day finishing up twelve special quilt blocks.
I can't show them yet though.
They are for a quilt block exchange that is happening tomorrow.
I can't wait to see the blocks everyone else has made.

Day 53 of 2020

Fireball and I got the sweetest Valentines from GB#1 yesterday.
What a happy mail day!

Day 52 of 2020

On my cutting board today, along with all the other random stuff,
is this baby doll carrier I made for GB#1 in 2015
when she was two and a half years old.
It fit her well then but does not now that she is seven.

So I am charged with trying to figure out a way to make it larger
so she can still carry her koala which she simply calls "Bear."
I sent Little E two different options for accomplishing this.
This is the one she picked - my choice also,
but the important thing about this picture
is that I figured out how to add text to the photo
instead of trying to write all my ideas.
You should have seen my other option, or maybe not.
It was barely legible.

Day 51 of 2020

Cute banana stickers.
I've never seen them before.
Maybe they are special for February.

Day 49 of 2020

In my studio is a magnetic board on which I keep inspiration for designs,
 color, and keepsakes.
I also keep notes and samples for techniques
and important information I'll need for reference in the future.
How long do you think it took me to find this tiny note
on how to make a replacement pillow cover for Little E?
That's right it took me two days of looking everywhere but here,
all the while thinking I know I just saw it somewhere.
Luckily, I found it in time to still make another cover and send it
for her to receive while she is in the states next month.

Day 48 of 2019

It was a nonstop day with GB#3.
This was just one part of our fun-filled day.
With his captured logs, GB#3 made the "furniture" on the left.

Day 47 of 2020

I finally got back to this bathroom today
and found a similar situation under the switch plate.
As I worked on the sanding that was needed,
I also was reminded of the problem that stumped me many years ago
which brought this project to a screeching halt the first time we attempted it.
I am trying to think outside the box for a solution
as it cannot remain unfinished this time.
Wish me luck.  I'll post pictures.

Day 45 of 2020

My last sunset here appears to have been in early December,
so Happy Valentine's Day to you with tonight's sunset.

Oddly enough, last Valentine's Day was a sunrise picture.

Day 43 of 2020

It's time to really work on this bathroom
in preparation for our tile work that begins next week.
I'd like to get a coat of primer, and possibly a coat or two of paint,
on the walls before then.
Years ago when we painted these stripes,
we removed the in-wall medicine cabinet
and hung a large mirror on the wall in its place.
We never got the hole patched up, and from the looks of it,
I never took the mirror down to dust the wall.
It never even occurred to me.
It's clean now and ready for me to do a little sanding on those stripe edges tomorrow
and then on to primer and paint.

Day 42 of 2020

A few days ago Little E let me know she was having a package sent to the house.
There would be "some assembly required."
Well, she actually ordered two somethings, one for me and one for her.
When I got the package yesterday, I understood.
How cute is that sheep fabric?!
Since she has no sewing machine at home at this time,
one will be for me and one for her.
The pattern says "1 Hour" so I will be making two baskets this week.
I will be sure to post pictures.

Day 40 of 2020

I played Oscar Bingo by myself
since I am the only one who really sits down and watches the show.
I lost interest in the bingo game after a little bit, but it does appear I won.

Day 39 of 2020

In the quest to see as many of the Academy Award nominees for Best Picture
 before the awards tomorrow night,
we went to another movie today.
We started a little late, but we have seen three of the nine.
I may get up early and see if I can make it four tomorrow.
Today we were the only ones who stayed for the credits.
We watch until the very end.
They deserve it.

Day 37 of 2020

I was feeling a little guilty about still having my stars up
until I realized that some of them feature hearts,
and then I figured they are quite appropriate for February.

Day 36 of 2020

Hi, it's me.
Today, I'm keeping it really real.

(If you get squeamish, I suggest you skip the words below.)

I've been having trouble with my vision for a little while.
Fireball insisted I go see my retina specialist
earlier than my annual appointment to find out what's going on.
To spare you the details, many of which I don't remember anyway,
I'll skip to the end of the appointment
which involves me getting a shot in my eye.
I knew this was a possibility but wasn't fully prepared for it.
I took the photo before I left the building
 - both eyes still dilated and the left one beginning to turn red.
I think I was in shock when I took the lovely picture.

Day 35 of 2020

I've made a fabric decision.
At first I planned to cut enough to make a sample block
just to make sure it looks like I am imagining,
but then I thought, oh heck, let's just cut enough for all the blocks.

Day 34 of 2020

It's laundry day and I got happy mail.
That means you'll find me folding towels and reading new patterns.

All patterns are from Cluck Cluck Sew.
L to R:  Brightly, Jelly Weave, Clover

Day 33 of 2020

We got sunshine today for the first time in a week
and my goal was to get a shot outside,
but I woke with a headache that only got worse
to the point that my vision was blurring.
The only thing I could do was to lie down.
After I woke, I was able to watch most of the Super Bowl
but the sun was gone so my picture of the day is a literal screen shot.
Here is my television screen after the Chiefs victory.

Day 32 of 2020

While I'm finding decision making difficult,
I can still follow directions.
