Day 31 of 2019

I'm about to cut into a very favorite canvas fabric of mine. 

I'm not 100% sure about the pattern I intend to use.

I'm a bit nervous. 

Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

Day 30 of 2019

This is one of the best "tools" I've purchased lately. 

A little over a year ago I discovered that I could check out audiobooks 

from my local library without ever leaving my home.  

This has been the best thing. 

(I use the "Libby" app.) 

I have probably listened to more books in the last year 

than I have read my entire life up until this point. 

I listen all day long while doing all the things I do 

unless they involve understanding other words,

 like reading directions or texts or working on a blog post.  

I can sew or do laundry or clean.  

I even raked leaves last fall while listening to a book.  

I used to listen with my ear buds, but they were always falling out.  

Enter the headphones and everything changed.  

I can get so much done and they almost never fall off.  

Ok.  I'm done with my ranting endorsement for real headphones 

and free audiobooks from the library.  

Both are wonderful.

yes, the answer to the question "what is it?" from Monday was indeed pecan pie.

This is the table where my Christmas houses reside during the holidays.  

I finally got them taken down today, 

specifically so I could put these boxes here.  

The table is six feet long.  

The boxes are stacked two deep and up to three high.  

They are filled with Mom's books.

Day 19 of 2019

The prediction was for five to seven inches of snow beginning at 4:00 in the morning. 

The snow finally began eleven hours late. 

About four hours later we had accumulated one and a half inches of snow.  

After another four hours our snow had stopped

  and our total was not quite two and a half inches.  

I have to say that I am a bit disappointed 

as I was prepared to be stuck in for a while 

but I'm sure the frigid temperatures and fierce winds we are expecting now 

will make up for it.

Crisis averted.

Fireball accidentally found my recipe this morning 

and now I am all prepped and ready to bake cookies. 

Yes, that third egg did not separate well, 

but it won't make a difference in this recipe.

I really wanted to bake some cookies last night. 

These are the major players. 

The major problem with this plan is that I can't seem to locate the recipe. 

It's hand-written, handed down. 

I hope I find it soon.

My caption here was going to be 

something to the effect of how I was liking my new pattern

 in the pink yarn until I looked at the pictures I took

 and noticed the last visible cable on the right.  

I guess I am glad I took pictures of this tonight.  

I have no idea if I would have caught the mistake on this row 

where it was easily fixed

 or way later down the road when I would have been sad to find it

but would have torn it all out anyway to make it right.

My puzzle crew has long gone back to their respective homes, 

but I worked hard on sorting Mom's things today

 so I thought I would reward myself with a little puzzle time.  

Before dinner I started one of Mom's small puzzles (150 pieces) 

and afterward I finished it.

Day 8 of 2019

I got into my studio for a few minutes today and found 

that GB#1 left me her heart.

Day 7 of 2019

I swatched my two patterns today and have decided to do a combination of the two. 

 Both are on this same piece with three rows of stockinette stitch between them. 

I know it's hard to tell.

I will try using a needle somewhere between these two sizes, 

work the top pattern with the cables but add twenty-four more stitches 

so I can get one more pattern repeat and create a slightly denser fabric.

Well, this happened today. 

I'm hoping the dentist can work me in tomorrow. 

I also hope it can just be put back in my mouth where it belongs.

Day 5 of 2019

It has become more clear to me in the past year 

that there is no time to work on things I don't enjoy. 

I have not been pleased with the feel of this project 

since very early in the process.  

I believe the yarn and needle combination just didn't make

 the fabric I had expected.  

So, today I have selected a couple new potential projects.  

My plan is to make swatches of both new patterns 

and choose based on those results.  

It's a new year. 

Let's frog that project and work on something enjoyable.

Day 4 of 2019

With one last chance to play together before GB#1 goes back home, 

the girls (GB#2 and GB#4) came up for the evening.

Day 3 of 2019

I was right. 

I was definitely not done baking yet. 

I baked last night and then again tonight. 

I just might have a few more things I'd like to bake and then, maybe, 

things will get back to normal around here.
