Day 302 of 2025

I was just talking to Little E today about this plant
that lives on a chest in the sunroom.
I was showing her how much it has grown and how wide it has gotten.
Later this evening I noticed
that it has also traveled up the center of the lamp
that also sits on the chest and is peeking out the top.

Day 301 of 2025

I finally finished the heel flap and heel turn on sock number one,
so it's on to heel flap on sock number two.

but only one of us is actually going to the game.

Day 298 of 2025

This update is mainly for M.
The horizontal cutting layout didn't work
so I ended up with the vertical layout.
I cut off the fringe and may add it as accents to some of the seams
with random placements.
Now I just need to find where I put my zippers
after I got them neat and organized.

Day 297 of 2025

I found some old doll clothes pattern booklets in the yarn closet.
Check out the prices, especially on the bottom two.

Day 296 of 2025

Today's snack is an apple I picked at an orchard with cheddar.
I'll be sad when these apples are gone.

Day 295 of 2025

The third try at this meatloaf was not a charm.

Day 1: I didn't realize that to cook the meatloaf frozen was going to take 2 1/2 hours total to cook. I put it in the fridge to thaw and to have the next day instead.

Day 2: I put the thawed loaf in the oven and cooked the prescribed amount of time. I cut a couple slices of it and found it was not cooked through as promised. We had leftovers while I put it back in the oven to finish cooking to have the next day.

Day 3 (today): I put the precooked slices of meatloaf on parchment paper and into the oven to heat it up for dinner. Before my timer went off, the smoke alarm started beeping. We did eat this version of the loaf. After the char, it really did have a great flavor so I will revise my cooking method for reheating the remaining slices for subsequent dinners.

Day 294 of 2025

I'm a fabric prewasher.
Here are some of the fabrics I have serged
and washed today to start my new project palette.

Day 293 of 2025

I'm figuring out the math and details for something new.

Day 291 of 2025

Katydid in need of rescue from children who were frightened of it.
I moved it to a safer place.

Day 290 of 2025

I haven't been knitting lately but did pick this sock up yesterday
and made a little progress.
Today I thought I'd knit a little more.
After a couple rows, I decided to count my stitches
and found I had two too many.
I have no idea how I did that
but I suspect it happened at that little bump
on the left near the bottom needle.
I will be tearing the heel out once more
and hoping that the third time really is a charm.

Day 289 of 2025

The "Take Me There: Peru" exhibit is now open
at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
I found the dyeing of yarns display captivating.
The colors were amazing
and I just wanted to stay and stare for a while.

Day 288 of 2025

My pressing station got a good clean up
while I was on my weekly call with Little E.
I've cleared off things that were using this space as storage
and rearranged my wool mats to accommodate larger blocks.
I started to sort through the buckets but ran out of time.
I'll start there next time.

Day 287 of 2025

It looks like I bought this caulk about a year ago.
I guess it's time to actually do the caulking before it gets cold again.

Day 286 of 2025

GB#5 recently became a five-year-old.

I presented her with the new mittens I made.
She was very happy with them.

Day 284 of 2025

I have such a cute little project planned for this pillow cover
I picked up in the IKEA clearance area.
 I'm super excited about it,
so I hope to get it squeezed in really soon.
And I guess I'd better throw those shoes in the wash on Monday.

Day 282 of 2025

Our pumpkins are done.
Mine is on the left, R's is in the middle
and the one on the right was made by GB#3.
I think they turned out super cute.

Day 281 of 2025

This is my second start for this heel.
These needles are very slick
and are great for the stockinette stitch in the round.
They are not as good for me on the back and forth
 with a slipped stitch pattern.
My stitches keep falling off the end
and are so hard to fix without just starting over.
I think I'll try switching to my bamboo needles
to see if they have more grip.

Day 280 of 2025

For my birthday Big D and R gave me an experience.
Today R, GB#3 and I went to an art glass studio and took a class.
What a fun time we all had.
We each made a glass item.
I can't wait to show you mine once it is able to come home.

Day 279 of 2025

Several weeks ago I bought the little orange vase at IKEA.
His older brother was out of stock
so I put myself on a list to be notified when he arrived.
That notice came and I picked up the missing vase today.
These are two-sided vases with smiles on one side
 and frowns on the other.
From the looks of it, they are happy to be together.

Day 278 of 2025

The answer to What is It? from Monday is this:
1. Superman
2. Indiana state flag
3. Captain America
4. ThunderCats
5. Captain America

Day 277 of 2025

I spent the day in Bloomington today.
I decided to visit campus and found the South Lounge
where I spent a lot of time
between classes when I attended school here.
These cubbies, now filled with model cars,
used to hold newspapers from across Indiana and the country.
Many of the labels are still there.

I would sit and read the paper from my high school home town.
Today I sat and worked on knitting projects.

Day 274 of 2025

I put terra cotta watering spikes in two of my planters yesterday.
The idea is to put the hollow spike into the planter
 down to ground (dirt) level
and then put a wine bottle full of water, upside down into the spike.
This morning when I left the house
I found one planter pushed off the porch
and the bottle broken on the porch and the walk.
I suspect an animal did the damage, most likely a raccoon.
